I also have a Japanese one, which only has that language installed. Will Rahen Zafar's fix work on Cybeer-shot DSC-RX100?

SOURCE: LANGUAGE SETTING JAPANESE TO ENGLISH

Hello analyn
There may be a simple fix to this problem.
Find a friend that has a cybershot of the same model as your own. In their camera, open the menu and navigate to the language setting. While you do this count how many times you press the button. Example:
Menu
-camera settings 1
-program 2
-personal settings 3 press ok

personal settings
-storage type 1
-date and time 2
-language 3 press ok

language
-spanish 1
-english 2 press ok
-japanese

Although the language is different, the number of spaces should be the same, so even though you can't read it to change the language, you should be able to count it out. Or if you are lucky you may have a Japanese friend who can read it.

Hope this helps

How can i change the languiage setting on my unit from japanese to english? I tried accessing the settings - change language but there are no options to select for english language.

p67 of the user manual shows how to do it in english.

The camera should be preinstalled with all the languages as options. If it still doesn't work, you can either download the install disk it came with, or register a query with Sony (different tabs on the Sony website, above).

Hope this helps

How to set the english setting in sony dsc-t70

You have to find the setup menu. On sony cameras it looks like a little suitcase with an arrow on the right hand side. Scroll right and you'll get a list of options. One of these has a little man with a speech bubble and here you can change the language. If you can't find it, press to reset all options, and you should have the camera as new, with your first option being language and it usually should default to english.
