Double vision on jvc 48" rear projection television

I am looking to purchase a used 48" rear projection jvc television. the owner told me that the television has "double vision". Which i assume is the picture being projected twice haha. The guy told me that it needs a new bulb to fix the problem. Does that sound right? If so, is that hard to do? Or is it something completely different?Just wandering if it is worth my time. Anyway, thanks a ton for your help!

No that is not correct
The problem you describe is a convergence issue which can be quite costly. The alignment alone is very complicated and more importantly time consuming

Looks like 3D Picture

You probly have a convergence cicuit failure. Replacing the convergencr IC's will probly fix it.
I recommend a professional repairman to
do it though. Particularly if it needs further adjustments after the IC's are replaced.

In all probability you need to have the convergence amplifiers replaced. A very common problem with all projection sets.

You will need two STK 392-110 ICs. They are located in the front of the TV. remove the speaker grille and then the small access panel and you will see the convergence board it has two Black heat sinks the ICs are mounted there. You can get replacement ICs with free shipping and free instalation instructions at the following Link.

Double vision

The double vision is from bad convergance ic's and posibly some support resistors or pico fuses. if you are not an electronics tech I suggest to have one do it. the ICs can range from $45.00 to $60.00 each and is suggested to replace both of them. some mitsies had one IC which I cant remember how much it was. tech charges vary. some prices may be $150.00 to $300.00 shop around.

You have an convergence problem, There are 2 IC's that go bad and a few resisters that can change value. If you flip the board with the Chips inspect the pins for cold solder joints. The IC's can be purchased from matelectronics
