I have had a Mitsubishi DLP 52525 for 2+ years now and recently the green timer light started to rapidly blink when the unit was turned on and it continued to blink without the picture coming on. After discconnecting the power and then using the system reset button, the problem remained. I swapped out the lamp and the tv worked for about a day and now the same problem is occurring. I have hit the system reset button but to no avail. There is nothing in the manual that deals with what is indicated by a constant blinking green timer led. Looking for suggestions.
Even if you replace the capacitors already mentioned in this
thread, you may still suffer from the Green LED of Death. Here is how Bronson279 helped me resolve the
problem. But note that it involves
adding a switch to your tv set and requires a bit of soldering ability and the
willingness to void your warranty. BUT
you can save big $$$$ on sending the set out for repair.
Here is my solution-
After replacing several bad capacitors (you can get replacement capacitors
from Mouser electronics on line by the way.. be sure to order the same capacitance
values and same or higher voltage rating and be sure they are rated for 105
degrees C.) I still had the dreaded G.L.O.D. Note that the first time I plugged it in
after taking it apart the G.L.O.D was not there and it powered up
normally. But when I had to unplug the
set to fully re assemble it, it came back.
The issue is caused by both the FMT board (formatter) and
the DM (Digital Module) board’s microprocessors tying to establish
communications with each other. Somehow a race condition gets started with each
thinking that the other board needs to be reset and then starting the boot
process over again.
You need to interrupt this cycle with a switch. Buy a DPDT switch from radio shack (or Mouser
Elec…) and again take apart your electrical chassis (If you have it apart
replacing bad caps you might as well add the switch or you may end up having to
disassemble the whole thing again.) On
the FMT board along the top edge near the input connector side of the chassis
there is a four wire connector labeled “FC”.
It has two black wires and 1 orange and one Brown wire. Leave the black wires connected and cut the orange and brown ones about an
inch from the connector. Solder four 12
inch wires onto the ends (one on the source side brown, source side orange and
one on the connector side brown and connector side orange) use heat shrink tubing to cover the solder
connection points. (If you can’t get tubing, then electrical tape will do, but
make sure the joints can’t short out to each other or the electrical chassis.) Now take the brown and orange wires from the
connector side and solder those to the middle two terminals of the DPDT switch
(one on each side not both to both terminals) Then pick one side of the outside
terminals of the switch and solder the source side brown and orange wires to
the terminal across from the same color (brown across from brown and orange
across from orange) See the diagram below.
The idea is to connect the wires normally when the switch is closed and
break the connection when the switch is thrown the other way. Before soldering
the wires to the switch add a piece of heat shrink tubing to wire so that you
can cover the solder point up after it is assembled.
Now re-assemble the electrical chassis and route the switch/wires
outside the chassis (I snipped a hole along the edge of the top fan shield to
get the wires out.) and put it back in the TV.
You need to also get the switch to the outside of the TV somehow (I
drilled a ½ inch hole in the plastic cover to snake the switch through but you
can do it however you like)
Here is how to use it-
From a fresh plug in- throw the switch to the OPEN position (the wires
are not connected) plug in the TV, the green LED should stop blinking after 60
secs like it is supposed to. Once it stops, flip the switch the other way so
the wires are connecting. Hit the power
button. The TV should turn on- your done!

From a plugged in, hmmm my power must have gone out,
state. Assuming you have the GLOD, flip
the switch to the open position, hit the reset button on the front of the tv,
wait for the blinking to stop, flip the switch back closed and turn the TV on
normally… Again you are done…
Note that the first time you turn on the TV you may have to
flip the switch the other way (if the TV won’t turn on even without a blinking
LED) This means that the switch was open and you need to have it closed to get
it to work. If you tried turning on the
TV with the switch open, start over by following the reset button procedure
above.
Note this is much easier to do than it sounds. Also note that it helps if you have the
repair manual. Its titled V26 Repair

because it has a wiring interconnect diagram also which details all the
connector placements
Not sure if anyone is still having this issue. Try this: 1) Unplug the electrical cord from the wall. 2) On the front panel of the TV, hold down the power button for 1 minute, then let go 3) plug the electrical cord back into the wall 4) Turn the TV back on like normal. The green flashing light should turn off after 1 minute and the set should be good to go.

I unplugged my WD52825, as directed, and then manually pushed in the front panel Power button, and then slowly counted to 60.
The "green blinking cursor of death" would attack me without warning whenever I used a public High Def channel. Yes, I am one of the few, who still refuse to pay for cable or satellite.
That was what I did this morning.
I then turned the set on, set it to a high definition channel for ABC or NBC, and I left it on and went to work. I fully expected it to be off when I got home.
IT IS STILL ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem, so I unplug the Tv, I take the air filter cover out, then I clean the filter. I put the filter and the cover back.
When I plug the tv again, the green light flashes for almost a minute and the Tv will WORK!
I have to do this at least every 2 weeks. Mitsub should take this units back and give us ur money back.
Mits 52725 rapid blinking of Green "Timer" light.
Reset, power off doesn't work. Have done the following several times and works for my problem.
I have the power cord plugged into a power strip. Push in and hold the reset button, turn off the power strip, wait for a few seconds, then turn on power strip, then release the rest button. After several seconds of blinking, the green light goes out and the TV is ready to go.
Suspect the DM PCB part # 934C116002
By the time you get the flashing green light and the caps are bulging you have other components that have failed and need replaced as well. If the bulged caps do fix the problem it will only be for a short time and will fail again. There are other components that need replaced that only the experienced should attempt.

I have the WD62725 same problem. Mitsubishi paid a local certified tech to diagnose the problem so they can review my case because the TV is out of warranty. , End result was Mitsu would pay for the parts (300.00) and I would have to pay for Tax, Shipping/Handling, H/Call, Shop Labor totaling 448.00 out of my Pocket. I've elected to not spend the money on this Tv rather buy a new LCD for a few hundred bucks more. Mitsu also had to replace the light engine on this TV two years ago which they covered 100% of the cost for that issue. When I bought the TV new It took 3 deliveries before they finally gave me one that worked. I'm looking at Samsung or Sony LCD.

OK first thing for everyone to understand, the reason why the green blinking timer light is such a common problem is because it is not one single problem in every single set, the green blinking timer light means that there is a short detected that does not allow the DM/FMT boards to boot and synchronize properly.
There are many different models with different chasis that will run across this issue.
The first one I cam across was a mits WD62528, it was a $6000 Television new the customer paid for it, green blinking timer light, i tried reseting unplugging etc.
I then took the TV apart and pulled the chassis, first thing I checked was the Capacitors on the DM module as this is a common failure, no such luck.
I then followed the correct trouble shooting procedure and found a voltage missing problem turned out to be the Micro Board wich i ordered a replace from mits and sent the old one back in for a core charge
second problem was the E2P wich is a very small single chip board wich has to be sent to mits for reprogramming (takes about 6 weeks :( ) problem solved TV still working perfectly
2nd television mits WD52525
Green blinking timer light, opened it up and pulled the chassis found 4 bad 1000uf 16v caps on the dm board and the fmt board replaced put the set back together, still green blinking light, checked surface mount fuses (small white boxes) on DM and FMT board, found 2 bad fuses on the FMT 1 being a 4Amp 1 being a 3.15Amp replaced with pico fuses (they work the same easier to solder on)
put the tv back together and timer light stopped! turned on television everything booted up lamp everything still no picture, the television shutdown lamp light solid red, i held menu and device to get the error code wich turned out to be 34 wich is lamp abnormality, but there is nothing wrong with the lamp, according to troubleshooting documents this means the power board needs to be replaced.
I hope this may help out a few people, again folks just because there are a lot of people with the green blinking timer light doesnt mean that mitsu makes junk, they just made their televisions do something when they short out rather than being completely dead, there are many diff problems that cause the blinking timer light, and as a technician I don\'t see very many mitsubishis in the shop for repair, and if you are having issues with a television repair shop having to fix your mits over and over again USE a Different one, there are many diff auth shops for warranties and many diff techs for not being under warranty..
Lastly I did want to repost this information as it will help solve the timer light problem on %90 of the mits televisions as long as the troubleshooting steps are followed correctly.
IT WORKS!!! We have no technical or soldering experience between us, but me and my partner were able to overcome the problem of the blinking light, thanks to the helpful posts above. We had bought a used 55" '03 WS 55909. When we checked it out to buy it the picture and sound was great. We hauled it on the back of a truck for 40+ minutes, we got it home and the dadgum light wouldn't stop blinking and we couldn't turn it on. We were so bummed when we looked online and saw that the it had a name. The Green Blinking Light of Death. It WAS working, we saw it and experienced it, and it would be a shame not to at least try, so we went with Solutions #9, with the backup of #3. Our TV had 7 capacitors, not 4, but we figured, close enough. We ordered the parts from a company on Amazon, and for $12 including shipping, we used the soldering tool we somehow already had, bought soldering wire at the hardware store, and got our TV to work! It's been a week now, we've been watching movies and really enjoying it. Thanks so much Chris and Nat and Sir Junkbucket. . There has been a worldwide problem in computers and TVs over the
past several years with faulty electrolytic capacitors (from Taiwan) that decay,
dry out, swell and die. The power supply is often the first component to
go bad, but other systems also degrade over time. As the forum explains , this problem is widespread in these sets causing multiple types of display problems after several years of
use. Mitsubishi is aware of the problem and will cover most of the cost
of repairing the chassis, even years out of warranty, but apparently ONLY if you
get an estimate from a Mitsubishi certified repair station and contact their
customer support BEFORE doing any work on the set. I just
followed the recommended procedure on that forum and Mitsubishi is covering half the cost of my $700+ repair when my 3+ year-old set recently died and showed
only a blue screen.
Solution #18 worked for us. It is simple and no replacing anything. (After you replug the TV, you may need to hold the Power Button down again for a second or two before you restart the TV.) Try it both ways...just be patient for the blinking light to go off. I usually get frustrated and start pushing buttons on the remote or TV, etc., which probably messes it up again. This solution has worked great for us the last two times the blinking happened...and it has been a long time between the episodes. Good luck!!
Well guy's, heres the scoop, I am supprised nobody out here thats a tech has posted this. The problem that the mitsubishi has been having is due to bad capacitors in the digital board. They are usualy 680 to 1000 MFD @ 16 volts, there is 6 to 8 in parallel to each other to obtain a high MFD value.. On the older rear projection models they are located on the digital board on the left. On the DLP they are buried and I mean buired in the metel box that is a real nightmare to take apart. On the DLP there are also capacitors that go bad on the input board and the power supply. What happens is the defective capacitors loose their value over time due to too much heat in the circuit. The manual says to plug the set in and wait 70 seconds for the green light to stop blinking (basicaly it is booting) does a self diognostic. When the green light does not stop blinking, that means the data is currupted. A poor DC source such as the 5 volt supply to the micro needs filtering, and thats what these caps do. The fix is of course is to replace the caps, I put 25 volt caps in place of the 16 volt caps. On the rear projection units it is easy to do for an experienced tech, on the dlp' it a nightmare, by the time you've got the thing apart ( about a hundred screws) you have this mess dangling all over. I have done the job, but will not do another one. Mitsubishi engineers must not care if the set gets serviced. Thats why most techs wont even touch it. Hope this helps, Have a nice day.
This has happened a few times in the 3 years I have had mine. The solution is quite simple. Unplug your TV for at least a minute, plug it back in, and you'll see the green light is still flashing; it will flash for another minute or so, and then stop. At that point, turn TV on as normal, and you're back in business. I hope from reading the previous posts, this problem doesn't become a huge issue. For now, this works for us.
Solution no. 5 worked for me. I replace all the 1000 uF capacitors on the DM board, FMT board, and PWB terminal board without success (although they were bad). I finally added the switch to the FMT board and the TV powered up with no problems. The job is fairly easy to do; the roughest part is removing all of the shields and making sure that everything is put back in place.
I would suggest that the switch and the capacitors shall be replaced. When replacing the capacitors, replace them with ones that have the longest lifetime (10,000 hours) and make sure that the voltage rating is the same or greater.
Hope that this helps other people out when it comes to fixing this problem.
READ "CHRISANDNAT" SOLUTION. THIS IS THE WAY I FIXED MY PROBLEM, AND THERE IS NO NEED TO SPEND $900 TO FIX THIS, MY TV HAS BEEN WORKING FOR ONE YEAR NO PROBLEM. TOOK ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES ONCE I PRACTICED THE SOLDERING.
I have a wd52631 I have volume and no picture for a minute and it shuts off I relaced the bulb and it only worked for two days and the same problem came back.I tried the reset with no luck.Is there a way of testing the bulb?
I just fixed mine. same thing happens to me. it happens every time our electricity goes out. anyway, i just got mine to work by pressing and holding the reset button, then rapidly tapping the reset button, then pressing the reset button and the power button at the same time. i didn't think it would work but after a few minutes of just sitting there i realized the light had stopped flashing. hope this helps some of you guys.
Solution #3 worked for me. It is a little bit detailed to do the capacitors, but if you can solder and disassemble and reassemble well, you can do it. I work on copiers for a living, so I did it with not too much difficulty. It was a little scarry at one point when I looked up and had TV all over my living room.
But this was a definite winner for me.
Green Blinking Light is due to the DM module not booting up mitsubishi claims you need to change the 4 1000uf caps on the DM pcb, This fix rarely works plus if you fix that your probally have the FMT pcb or the power supply pcb fail next, caps generally do fix the power supply pcb but not the FMT pcb. Best thing to do is to pull chassis and ship to mitsubishi for rebuild wich will take care of all probs. i think they charge like 300 plus shipping. Usually don't have any problems after that.
If there is made heat by a lamp then i am thinking what can then caused the problem ?
There is a heat bulb lamp and several components need cooling often there is a fine dust filter used because in order to keep clean the prism mirrors, most hot great 2800 lm beamers have also this and i have an old model back in the begin ninetees a polaroid beamer that was getting so hot and the first thing i see was the fine dust filter it was fully close beaten and all capacitors were deformed people have never looked on this fine dust filterthat caused all of it it was been cooked the whole machine and everywhere there where black spots in the picture that was the reason and a not stable picture but it was var to late to repair all that components in that kind of early beamers what havea principal similar system

Ground the AC plug two prongs together for about 5 minutes. This will discharge the capacitors and the television will come back on.
I have a WD65735 with the blinking green light problem. The capacitator fix is mainly for the WS series. I did not have a ventilation warning and had a no error code. These TVs are like giant computers and are sensitive to temps. I took mine apart and found dust built up on the heat sink on the processor behind the fan. Cleaned it and set works like brand new. Make sure fans are clean. Free and easy fix.
See solution #3 it worked for us when nothing else did. we only ended up spending 30 dollars between capacitors and dpdt switch!

the dlp will most likely need a qualified mits repair center to take over for you. repairing that set is pretty involved. and the parts you would need are not available to the public.
on your 48" CRT projection check the DM module for 4 vented 1000mf 16v capacitors. replacement should get you tv working great

I don't know about nettiser's credentials, but I've found plenty of people who would disagree with his/her assessment.
The flashing green timer light after a lightning storm seems to be a very common problem with old Mistubishi rear projection TV's. A friend and I had the exact same problem.
Using this and other sites, I spent $36 bucks and a little time with a soldering iron to replace the capacitors on the DM board and got mine up and running (WS55859). I've never really worked on electronic circuit boards before, but the helpful advice at these sites got me up and running. Definitely check it out before you hire someone or replace your TV:

I hve a Mitsu 52525 as well, same deal with the green light blinking and no picture. The repair guy came out and replaced 11 capacitors and now the DM module needs to be replaced as well. I have to wait for the DM module to arrive and now sources tell me that they are on back order, what a load of crap and of course the extended warranty ran out 2 weeks prior. No one carries these modules and I would hve no idea how to change the damn thing anyway. I heard this was a common problem once the set is 3 years old. thoughts?

I have the Mitshubishi WD-52525 have the same problem after 2and half years rarely use. The picture after came up and green horizontal lines all over screen - mostly at central of sreen. I replaced the lamp, but the problem is difference: the TV does not start up and call for lamp failed (orange LED) after blinking timer stops. I will try to replace the capacitor based on Chis Armstrong to see the result or not, becaused my TV does not belong to group that Chis indicated.
I have a Mitsubishi WD65-613, I had the same problem with the green light flashing rapidly. The television would not power up, I tried the reset botton and unplugging it. I learned from this site and another, that it was most likely four capacitors on the DM board. First off I have zero knowledge of electronic, I located the DM board and carefully removed it. The four capacitor were easy to locate, they had a slight bulge on the tops of all four. I could not find 1000mf 16v capacitor locally, but the man at the electronics parts store contacted a friend that soldered four 1000mf 25v.
He would not except any payment, I put everything back together and the TV is working great. Many THANKS to everyone who help, you guys are great.
I had the same exact problem. No picture and the blinking green light...then it goes to red...lamp indicator. Replaced lamp, no picture still. My warranty service rep said its the Power Supply bd and he replaced after waiting 5 weeks for the part to come in. Mitsi was on back order. Replaced the part in November 07 and now its back to same thing...no picture again. Part must have failed because all of the symptons are the same. Is this a continual problem with this model?
This is the second time in about a year that the green timer light begins to flash rapidly and the TV has no power. Unplugging the set does not help. We have had no other problems with the TV. The last time I searched online and came up with a key sequence to press on the remote that eliminated the problem. The problem is I didn't keep that solution and . . . here I am again! (I know--duh!!!) I'm thinking that the problem maybe related to when there has been a power outage in the neighborhood, even though we have an extensive power surge protector on the TV. Replaced bulb and plugged the TV back in and have had the green blinking timer light since. I've tried the reset button and unplugging a few times and still just a green blinking timer light. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem with the blue screen and flashing lines going through it. When I try to select a device nothing comes up. I've reset the TV about dozen times and changed power strips and the lines get worse. I did not have the lines first just a blue screen but after resetting several times the lines came up and won't go away.

i have WD52725 that i bought in Sep 2004. I had replaced the lamp 3 weeks ago due to the error message regarding the airflow and tv being turned off.
now there is no picture at all.

same problem as everyone else. i'm a bit wary of doing this kind of work (replacing capacitors & soldering) myself. I'm wondering if it is worth taking to a TV repair guy... seems like a 20 minute job... but they'll probably charge more than its worth.

Same blinking green light issue. I tried the fix replacing the four Jamicon capacitors on the DM board and replaced several others while I was at it. No luck. No more MItsubishi DLPs around here. Time to experience some other brands limfacs. Luckily, the CRT TV I bought from Sears 30 yrs ago for 175.00 still works like a champ.
I have the 52825 model. Fast blinking timer light; manual says to hit reset but that doesn't work. For about a year I have unplugged and replugged the tv, usually several times, to get it to reset and work for a time. Now nothing works. I suspect the power supply and am trying to figure out where to get one and how to install it.

The blinking green light problem just happened to me. I have had my tv for 3 years so that seems to be the time it starts. I have another problem now because I was pushing on the power button apparently too hard trying to get the tv on and now the power button is broken and all the way in. Since this has been identified as a manufacturing problem with these sets is Mitsubishi giving us a rebate or repairing the sets?

People from where I purchased it said it is probably not worth fixing. Okay, but neither they nor Mitsubishi will get another $ from me.
The blinking green timer light has been an issue off and on for us over the past 2 years. Generally, we have been able to either use the resent button, unplug the TV, or just wait about 5 hrs and it goes off. This time,however, none of these seems to be fixing the issue. Ugh...this TV has been mostly a headache since we've gotten it. It does not work well with all the technology out there that you might want to plug into it. It's far too complex/programmed of a TV. We will not be buying another Mitsubishi. Please let me know if anyone figures out the green blinking light issue.

I still have the green fast blinking light even after I replaced 12 different 1000uf capacitors on 3 different boards. Some postings say to replace these capacitors with different capacitance or voltage ratings, but I just replaced them with the same type of capacitors that were originally in there. Last year I also replaced the two 3300uf capacitors on power board, so I'm pretty sure it's not them. Does any one have any other ideas?

manual that deals with what is indicated by a constant blinking green

I have the WD52525. It is about four years old. We had a thunderstormtwo nigjts ago. Now the time light is blinking green. Doing a system reset or unplugging the TV doesn't help. I read the the usual problem is a bad DM module. The repair shop says Mits doesn't even make the module any more.

I had the "Green Blink of death" and was helped by Joseph Bronson who in my opinion, as a former tech from years ago, was a true EXPERT in this unit and his advice was 100% accurate!
I've been experiencing the exact same problem as everyone here has described with the green blinking light of death. Unplugging for multiple hours at a time and hitting reset button produces no positive results. Has anyone found an actual solution for this?!

Green light will blink for about a minute.Fan or something kicks on inside right of tv. Some sort of vauge feedback noise is emitting from speakers. When green light stops so does all noise. It's like its shutting itself down. The power button doesn't seem to do anything. After a couple of times of this cycle it completely stopped and the power button just restarted the cycle.The tv worked fine until I unplugged it for a week. The tv did not move and it is plugged in through a surge protector. Any fixes or parts I can replace?
Same issue on a WD-62725, replaced 4 capacitors on the DM and SMT boards per Mits tech article. Two of the 8 were bad and tested bad, but replaced them all since they are in pairs.
I was on vacation and unplugged TV for 3 wks. When I turned on I had to contend with the green indicator lite blinking. I was able to rid it by resetting using paper clip to insert into small opening in front of Tv to reset. After numerous attemps it corrected itself. I do still have some problems with a zapping noise and intermittently having picture go off or pixelize.
We have the same problem, we had service out (the one suggested by Mitsubishi) and they said this is a common problem with this tv and that you need to replace the E2PWB (board). This requires them to remove the one from your tv, send it to Mitsubishi, for approx. 5 weeks (yes, no tv for that long) and it runs about $290!!! Nice information to get on a tv you spent close to $3000 on!
Add me in on the long list of people with the "Flashing Green Light of Death Syndrome" of Mitsubishi TV's. I have a WD-62825, first symtoms of a problem began with what appeared to be signal noise on the image, appeared to be vertical to horizontal waves across the screen. I thought it was a cable signal problem but when I played a DVD and the same problem existed. I'm currently talking with Mitsubishi to fix the problem and they are offering to take the "Chassis" and repair it, they are offering to cover the cost of parts ($500) and I have to pay for the labor ($500). Is this fair considering that this problem is obviously a manufacturing defect that should demand a RECALL. So what should I do...Let Mits. take the part pay $500 and wait 6-8 weeks for the repair or try fixing it myself by replacing the suspected capacitors? I'm hosting Thanksgiving and no working big screen I've had to order a new TV (and it's NOT a Mitsubishi), nearly $10k spent on TV's in 4 years time. !@#%!$%
If self repair is the better option does anyone out there have digital photos pointing out the DM Module and other suspected circuit boards that have the suspected faulty capacitors for my WD-62825 model. I'm not an electronics wiz but I'm resourceful and handy. Thanks for any help.

We have a WD62825 with the same blinking green light issue. We also have the wavy lines (noise) on our picture when we are watching the Dish and the DVD. We also have an antenna on our roof and when we switch the picture to the antenna....we have a beautiful picture with no picure noise. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas? On the blinking green light issue. We have found that if we unplug the television for 3 minutes or longer ~ then plug it back in.....it fixes the problem.

I have the same tv WD-53525 and it is approximately 3 years old. After about 6 months the Tv kept coming up with the yellow words...airflow blocked. You would then clean the already clean filter and it did not help. To get the warning off you would simply hit cancel. After it was 2 years old the Tv stopped working. We then called our warranty company who came out and took the tv for 61/2 weeks. After 4 weeks the yellow words came up again and now a new problem vertical lines appeared. We let that go for 11 months and the tv quit again. They then came and sent the chasis to Mitsubishi for repair for 7 weeks. We get the tv back and now it is 3 weeks later only to be broken again. The warrantee company will not replace this humk of junk. They insist on reparing. I know the repairs must be costing more than a new tv. This tv is a HUNK OF JUNK. I will never buy another Mitsubishi product as long as I live. The company will not stand behind their VERY EXPENSIVE products. They deliver junk and do not fix it correctly. The BIG SCREEN STORE is in cahoots with this company...STAY AWAY! I am at the point now where I will go back and forth with them on this tv, but I will go and purchase another brand for my family so we have a tv to watch. Ridiuculous 3 - 6 to 7 week periods without a television that you paid over $2300 for and is only 3 years old...just ridiculous.

I have exactly the same problem and after 2 days of system reseting and turning the power on and off, I'm wondering what to do.
Is having the board rebuilt a "fix" or just masking other problems?
We spent alot of money on this tv in 2005 and would like to get more time out of our expensive mistake.
My wife just informed me that our warrenty is still good until June of 09'!
When we have the tv serviced (yet again) is there any way to make sure that the "Board" is sent to Mitsubishi to be 'rebuilt"?

I have a Mitsubishi DLP WD52825, 3.5 years old, cost us 3500.00. The blinking green light prob. started about 6 months ago, any time our house power went off. I was always able to over-ride the lite after unplugging, depressing reset over and over until it finally went away. However, since noon yesterday, the green light has been blinking - can't stop it, ergo no TV. Local TV Tech says Mitsubishi will fix for 500.00, keep TV for 5 weeks. Something is wrong with this scenario.
Anyone heard from Mitsubishi on this prob., or don't they care?

I have the same problem on my Mits 62 inch HD DLP I am still under warranty and they came out and fixed that green light problem. They pulled the chassie and kept it for 5 weeks. They had to send it to Irvine California. The total bill was 638.00 but was again it was under warrenty so no charge to me. Well now after 4 months of it being fixed, it went out again. I am calling the TV repair shop when they open up at nine and have them send someone out. My warrenty runs out in Dec 2009 so I still have some time. I want to find out how long are we going to play this game. The person that I spoked to on the phone told me off the record, that even when they fix this problem, it really never works right for long anyway but Mits does not want to budge on this. I am going to ask for a new TV or some type of compensation since this has proven to be a lemon and I think their is a lemon law. I know with Samsung, which I bought for the bed room a 42 inch LCD, I was told by the sales person, that if we can not fix it after two or three trys, we replace it for free. End of storry, no sending it out for weeks . Nice.

I had tthe red light of death. Changed the bulb with no change. Repair shop came and took the TV and said 4-6 weeks to send the chasis to Mitsubishi. I call Mitsubishi and they said yep about that long. I told them I would never have another one of thier products and all they said was sorry you feel that way. (CLICK) call over!
Repair shop said they see more of these types of TV's than any other brand... That helps !!!!!

Blinking green timer light, no longer goes away with reset button or pulling plug, waiting, then plugging back in. Repair tech agrees that this is a very common problem for Mitsubishi models, and quoted $900 as price for "rebuilding" boards. Meanwhile, they would just sell me a refurbished 62" model (62527) for the same price. :-(
Since this would result in them just hauling my current set away, I'll try to do the capacitor swap myself. Not too confident (I'm a software guy) but seems like nothing to lose at this point.
Add me to the list. Â I am going to do the following, and I suggest you do the same:
1) Inform your state attorney general, cc-ing Mitsubishi's US General Counsel, that his is an unfair and deceptive trade practice.
2) Send the same notice to the FTC, again cc-ing the GC.
3) Contact my local news media.
4) Contact national consumer-oriented news media.
If they aren't going to do the right thing let's make this as painful and publicly embarrassing for them as possible.
I have a 52725 2004 DLP piece of junk -It went away to Georgia for 9 weeks(blinking green light problem), came back and started malfunctioning within a week -Total garbage TV -We'll see what Mitsubishi plans on doing about this oh too obvious problem -And no I wont EVER buy a Mitsubishi product again -Ive had enough of this trash already...

I share your pain...I bought a 52525 in Dec.2004 and blinking green light started occuring within 2.5 years. Restarting system fixed the problem until last week. TV will not turn on. Technician recommends sending it to Mitsubishi for chassis overhaul...the cost is $580. It seems like this is more common than I thought...How can we start a class action lawsuit?
I have the exact same problem. $2000 TV viewed less than 100 hours and now it is worthless. Ordered a new lamp for >$230 to determine if that was the problem and encountered same results. Sent the lamp back in on 03/04/09 to be tested and have not heard anything back yet as of 03/30/09. Called Mitsubishi parts three times and they indicated it has not been retested. So they have my $2000 and now an extra $230. I vow to never buy Mitsubishi ever again.
i have the same problem, but mine is a 62" unit and is nearing 5 years old. i just replaced the lamp a month or so ago. we had what i think was a power surge during a snowstorm - tv was on - but no interuption in picture. it was after i turned it off that the fast blinking green light came on. reset button did not work. but powering the unit down totally at the plug did the trick - except the next time we turned it on, same issue on powering off again. as of now, we're just turning it off via remote, then turning off the power strip.
Bought in 11/04. Spent $3200. Used for roughly 400-500hrs. Now, I to am getting the blinking green light of death. NO MORE MITSUBISHI for me. I used to ONLY buy their products (I even bought their 35" tube as they were the first to produce this size TV back in the 80's). But, I think this company has cheapened out.
I'm going to try and fix it, but if I can't the new gold standard in quality TV's is Samsung. I just hate to throw away an otherwise great TV (picture, that is).
as a follow-up to my post a few days ago, as noted, i have the 62-inch model and had the flashing green led. this started about a month after i replaced the lamp (unit is nearing five years old). fortunately for me, when i disconnected the power for a few minutes and brought the system back up, the TV would turn on. but the flashing led would come back on and stay on until i disconnected the power again.
however, someone had posted as a solution to unplug the set and hold the Power button (on the set, not the remote) in for a minute or so, then power back up. i couldn't see how this would make any difference with the power disconnected, but tried it anyway. it worked. the TV powered up fine and when i shut it down later, the green led flashed as it normally would during shut down, then went off.

I have read all of the 25 solutions and the "Sad stories" about the blinking green light problem. I wonder how many others have this problem but are not familiar with this FIXYA website. Obviously, this is a basic Mitsubishi design problem that occurs after a period of time due to either incorrect Capacitor voltage ratings or a incorrect Capacitor temperature ratings (or both).
The consensus of the "cures" seemed to center on these Capacitors and some of the other cures (holding the power button while the set is unplugged) may work for a few cases but may be temporary fixes

I'm sure Mitsubishi monitors this website and is well aware of the problem and is dreading some class action against them. (is there a Lemon Law for TV's?)
I'd be interested in knowing if we have a Lawyer among the Green Light victims and would be interested in reading his opinion on how to bring Mitsubishi to admit responsibility and remedy this situation.
I had an old 50 inch Mitsubishi front projection set I bought in 1982 and it was still working in 2994 when I gave it away and bought the 52525.
I'll stick with Mitsubishi if they admit it's their fault and fix my set, if not, I'll consider a lawsuit

The green power light is blinking when the set is powered on. It does not stop blinking and the controls do nothing. I have tried unplugging and repowering, using the reset button and those two actions in every combination possible with no luck.

Wow, I'm glad to see all these posts. I've been having the same problem. It started about 5 months ago (I've had the 52 inch WD52725 since December 04). It started the same way with the occasional blinking green light. The reset would not work unless I unplugged it at the wall first. It would always do the trick for a while so I assumed my bulb was on its way out which the sales person had warned would eventually happen. I just put up with it for a while trying to get the most out of the bulb. Finally it went completely about 6 weeks ago so I ordered the new bulb (for $210) and it worked perfectly. Now within the last week the blinking green timer light issue has been creeping up again. The reset trick worked fine a few times and now nothing. I left my TV unplugged all last night and this morning I plugged it in and did the reset and it worked for all of 2 minutes. The I started to get this choppy image (like slow motion) and then poof! Gone again Fortunately for once in my life I actually purchased the extended service plan on something (I must have been psychic) so I'm covered until 12/09. I plan to become a real pain in the *** to these people for the next 8 months if they dont make good on this piece of **** tv that I foolished paid $3,000 for. I have a 1989 RCA in our bedroom that my wife keeps begging me to replace and I keep refusing because it works fine. Now she knows why. At least I'm reassured that there are so many of us. We need to take the fight to these jerks. I'll keep everyone posted on how I do.
My Mitsubishi was purchased 3 years ago. I have the same problem with the blinking green light. It has happen in the past but I unplugged it and started working again. This time it will not reset. I bought my TV from Howard's and they recommended a TV repair place. The repair place was well aware of the problems Mitsubishi was having with my model TV. They said it was the Chassis that was out on it. It will cost $900.00 to fix and they will have it for six weeks.

We have barely used this tv because we just don't watch much tv. This is really disappointing to hear that there are so many people with the same problem. What can we do for recourse? Well I'm happy to report that at least I am having a happy ending to this problem. By some stroke of genious (which I'm by no means prone to) I had the wisdom to purchase an extended service plan for this tv which I purchased from my retailer (not Mitsubishi) and paid about $350 for back in 12/2004. PC Richards & Sons (a local NY retailer) was out to my house the next day to take my TV back to the shop. By the next morning they phoned to say the part that the TV required was unavailable and they offered me my choice of two new TV's. Another Mitsubishi DLP set (60") or a Sony Bravia 52" LCD. Both were new models with 1080P technology. Naturally being spooked by the Mitsubishi performance record, I jumped at the Sony LCD (a $2,000 set) which I will receive tomorrow. They were also kind enought to give me a generous discount on another 5 year extended service plan so I'm covered for the next 5 years on this one too. Bottom line: I paid $350 for the right to receive a new TV that should last me at least another 4 years minimum. So I guess the reality is if you have an extended warranty you may be in good shape. Mitsubishi can leave you twisting in the wind but if your retailer wants to make good on this abortion of a TV problem then they will. I wish you all the best. I've never been a big believer in buying extended warranties but when it comes to evolving technology and big ticket prices it may make sense.
I am having the same issues. The guy they send to work on my TV said he dreads it when he heres this model. Basically, they don't make parts for this any more and you need to send part of the unit back so they can fix it. But he said it is only temperary. And after the waranty is up. It will cost some stupid amount of money. i don't remember what he said but I want to say $900. I need to call for another appointment for them to fix it. I say sue the bastards. I also had a Mitsubishi TV form the 80s (37 inch) and bought this because of how the other worked so well for me. This TV is a major bomb and Mitsubishi needs to do something. I'm going out tonight or tomorrow to buy a new TV. Best Buy has 36 month interest free. That is hard to beat.
