I have a new RC65 remote, Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR4, and Directv receiver HR 21-200. I have programmed the remote in the TV position and can control the television. I then switch over to the directv symbol and cannot make my receiver work .

Remote codes are purely based on the make of the television and it is irrelevant what the remote is. However, I would say that no one these days buys universal remotes. You buy a Facsimile Remote which is an exact copy of the original.

It may or may not program for the sony set, Sony uses many different remote codes.

These codes control Sylvania TV with the RC65, & I suspect they work with the RC64: 11864, 10171, 11271, 11314, and 11394.

i have a 46 inch sony bravia that i bought in 2007. recently i have noticed that the screen is showing horizontal lines (purple?) about that come and go. any advice would be greatly appreciated

Do you use a Home Theater receiver along with your televison?  Are other components, such as a DVD player, VCR, Blu-ray player, etc. connected?
If so, it's possible that the Mute function on your remote is muting the sound from your receiver, and not the TV itself.
If that's the case, you'll need to look at the details of the "default" buttons for your activities, and see whether the Mute function is associated with your TV or your receiver.  If it's set for the receiver, you need to change it to be associated with the TV.

I have a Sylvania LC427SSX and can not get the remote to work with the codes given by comcast. Does anyone know the correct code?
