Yamaha EF4500Ise Gennerator won't produce power.

I bought a used Yamaha ef4500ise genny for my camper with 80 hrs on it. I put 15 hrs on it, and it worked fine. Now all of a sudden when I turn it on, it's continues to run(good idle) but only produces power for 30 seconds or so, then the overload light comes on. This is with no load on it. I've cleaned the air filters and changed the spark plug and nothing. Someone please give me some good news(easy fix). It'll **** that i just gave $1500 for this genny for 15 hrs of use. Thank you in advance.

It was a bent pin. It had a recall for the carburator, when it was replaced, the dealer bent some of the pins that connected to the idle. Therefore it was running high idle(pushing 300amps) and overloaded immediately. The pins were replaced and everything works better than it did originally. I'm thinking the guy that sold it to me thought it was toast and tryed to screw me, little did he know, it was covered by warranty still and didn't cost me a penny. Yamaha is good to go.

Doe's it have a thermal couple on it? If so it could be bad and when it heats up it is killing your power.

Is it possible to change a ef4500ise from a bonded neutral to a floating neutral

Unless you are going to use this exclusevly for 240V service, this is a bad idea. Your 120V legs will float between 0V and 220V.

Goes into overload and shuts down

Not very much information in your problem troy but you might be drawing more amps than your producing. I had bought a nice little Craftsman electric tire pump but my Yamaha kept dying. After reading the labels, my 2400IS puts out 15 amps and my tire pump needed 18 amps, my friend now has a nice tire pump for his home use. I've seen post that RVers have to add the "booster" kit to start their air conditioners, extra power is needed to start them after that the 2400 can run them. Just a thought, try reading the metal tag on what your trying to run and see how many amps it needs. Anything over 15 will shut you down and some will need that extra "boost" to get them started. I seem to think I read somewhere that it is about $75.00 for the Yamaha booster kit.

10 months ago I had my 6 year old Dometic A/C replaced by a friend who bought the new unit directly from Dometic via a Dometic employee. It worked fine the two times I use it this past winter while...

10 months ago? Do have any warranty on this?
As far as adding refrigerant. Yes - you can add some - but you need to fix the leak first, since it will be quite expensive to keep putting refrigerant in. I would first try to get the mfc repair it and if that fails I would call a serviceperson.
note: fixing a leak and re-charging the system is going to take someone 'very' knowledgable of air conditioners.
good luck!

I am building an off grid cabin but will need to meet code providing all electrical components as per the latest NEC. I will be using a 4100 watt generator for my initial power source but plan on...

I think he cost of the panel and breakers would be the cheapest thing on your list. Your 4100 watt genny is tiny for a whole house, and if you are planning on a solar set up, you will need to convert to dc, so, I take it your 4100 genny is used to charge the battery bank? Then the panel will not need to be anything but a small disconnect for the genny, basically one of those things that prevents the current from flowing back into the source, which you don't have. I would talk to the building dept., they may not want to take liability, and make you get a contractor to figure something out. All your appliances, and lights will be 12 volt, most motors are 12 volt anyway, they are just transformed to 12 volt from 110 current, and I don't think you will need breakers for 12 volt stuff. You could look at some camper supplies, boat stuff, they all run 12 volt appliances, and lights.
