My machin will not spin. It makes a loud noise, kind of like a clicking like the motor is trying to spin but doesn't. Do you think this problem is the motor coupling? Do you fix these the same basic way in every model? I am not sure how old this machine is (came with the house) maybe time to just replace? Thanks for your help!
Same proble....model KAWS750GQ1...tried the safety switch on the lid,that wasn't it. It makes a weird noise but won't spin...help!

There's a couple ways to tell if it's the coupling.
One is to just tip the machine back a bit and look on the floor underneath for pieces of the coupler laying on the floor. :)
Also let it fill and check if it is agitating. I do a coupler repair a few times per week at least, and the customer always calls in saying "My machine will not spin"
When we ask if it still agitates, they often aren't even sure. Because they typically start the machine and walk away and come back later and find the clothes soaking wet from no spin cycle.
So check it out, it probably is the coupler (the clicking sound you described is a typical symptom)
Check to see if it agitates and if not, then you can figure a very strong chance it is a broken coupler.

It is so common that the washing machine can make
terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is
important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the
identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is
vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be
inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it
is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually
turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the
drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which
include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be
in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the
mounting is also very important. Finally
in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve
most issues.

Oops, may have posted this incorrectly...the first part of thislast post part was not mine.
I didn't see under the washer,but will look again in better light. It does not appear to agitate,but it sure is trying. It makes noises trying to agitate and to spin,but it is barely a movement.(almost backwards?)
Do you still think it might be the coupler?

Similar problem. Machine would spin and then stopped at spin following rinse cycle ( I believe an overheated part stopped the machine before more damage would occur). Machine still fills and empties water without a problem. Recently, no agitation at all but you can hear something moving as if it could agitate/spin if another part was connected. Is this a belt drive problem, coupler, something else, or some combination of same?
