SOURCE: Toro deck mower problem. Why my mower is using excess fuel?
Carburetor may need adjusting. The fuel you use may have an ethyl alcohol content low enough that the gas stations may not be required to post on the pumps. I know most of our fuel in this area has at least 10 percent ethyl alcohol in it. This makes fuel burn cleaner but you also use alot more fuel.

there is a product called mowease that you apply to the blade and mowing decked after a good cleaning. it helps keep the grass from adhereing to the deck
Testimonial: "I kept wondering if there wasn't something that I could put on it to make it slide off. Thanks for the info. Now I just have to find mowease. Thanks"

This is covered by the Warranty. Take it to a local dealer like www.arcolawn.com and have the thermostat replaced.
The first generation thermostats are known for sticking.
Good luck

Sometimes, the main jet to these small-engine carburetors gets clogged up. It is easy to get to. It is the brass bolt that holds the float bowl onto the carburetor body. If you remove it, gas will readily flow out, so drain the fuel by removing the fuel line and placing it into a suitable container first. Remove the bolt and exterior washer (don't lose that). Clean the bottom hole in the bolt and pay close attention to the very small holes in the smooth section near the top. Use NO metal objects to clean the orifices as they are a precision size and can't be enlarged or scraped up. Clean the float bowl also while it is off, make sure the bolt is clean and shiny and reinstall. This will assure the carb is getting fuel, providing there is no clog between the fuel tank and the carb body in the fuel line. You should pull it and blow it out, making sure it is clear also. I recommend installing an inline fuel filter on ALL 4 stroke machinery.
