AEG Santo Fridge light flashing

AEG santo 3774-6KA PNC Nr 927966320 When I open door, lights on top flash on & off, about once a second, interior light flashes at same frequesncy, noise of relay going on and off at same frequency. This has been going on for some months. Fridge cools fine What do I need to do? Thanks Frank

I have flashing internal light , every second with clicking noise.

    I have a 3774 - 6KA fridge.

I have changed the bulb and reset temperatures

  • Anonymous Dec 03, 2007

Hey, mine started doing the same stuff (audible relay-clicking, interior light flashing on/of with about 1s intervals...), but this unit (Santo 3675-6KA) does it even with the door shut. Can't reset the machine, since it clickers on/off too quick for it to do the 3sec countdown to shutdown. Pulling the power cord off the wall and waiting a tad before replacing won't solve it, so it's a hardware issue.

This is now our third AEG breaking down within 3yr of purchase (lucky we got the extended 5yr warranty, hehe). Totally lost confidence in AEG. AND the repairs. The guy couldn't fix our freezer, and our dishwasher was doomed too expensive to repair. Both were replaced with current AEG models. Bad: noe we need to prepare for another massive breakdown in a few years time - after warranty's expired!

Any info on what's wrong with the flashing symptom? It seems it's commont to many AEG models, so there should be a fix - just need to figure it out!

I replaced the main circuit board and that fixed the problem

Same problem with one of the Santo line of fridges. Will not stump up £120 for a new PCB - AEG already made £600+ out of me for a fridge that lasted a little over two years. Would love to try the capacitor fix. Could anybody please point me to somewhere (online or other) who sells the replacement part. An online search has come up blank. Many thanks in advance.

Just want to say a massive thank you to rwsummers and kikka mikko for posting those links to the x2 capacitor solution. Cost me 68 pence in a trade electronics shop (but if you're in the UK Maplin have 1uf caps for about 3 quid and there are those stores in most major cities. The solder job took about 6 minutes and the fridge now works like new! One in the eye for AEG - gangsters. Many Thanks again

AEG santo 1683-TK7

I guess this is a problem with other santo models that use a similar circuit board. Change the 1 uf 250v capacitor as in the article santo
-fix.html" target=_blank rel=nofollow>http://www.elisanet.fi/mtj/santo/AEG-santo-fix.html

Also cures intermittent no compressor start, due to relay not holding. Causing rise in temperature.

Thanks for the information. Having already once changed the contol board about five years ago, the flashing light syndrome returned again this spring and I was expecting another masive blll for a second replacement. The capacitor solution seemed worth trying and it has worked.

I similarly would like to thank rwsummers and kikka mikko for posting those links. Having bought the fridge S3688-6KA sometime in 2003, I had the PCB replaced for the first time in Aug 2007 at a total cost of £223.50 !! inc labour. This time I really didn't want to have to do the same, so tried the solution above. So far so good, I bought the capacitor (N74CN) , a soldering iron and some solder for £16.30 so have already saved more than £200 and it seems to be working fine now (touch wood).

Btw I am a housewife who has never soldered anything before :-) !!

Thanks again

EDIT: I bought capacitor and soldering iron etc...from Maplin

Just wanted to say that the fix works.

http://www.elisanet.fi/mtj/santo/AEG-Santo-fix.html

My fridge is slightly different from the one on the guide, but it still worked. Some people claim to have changed 2 capacitors, but I only changed 1 capacitor, like the guide shows.

The fridge stopped blinking, and the compressor works fine. I can't believe it.

The hardest part was removing the top lid of the fridge, and putting it back on. But with a little bit of patience, it's super easy.

I removed the original capacitor by slightly melting the solder holding it together. This was done by simply putting the soldering iron on top of the existing solder joints. When the solder was loose enough, I gently pulled the capacitor and it came off. Super easy.

Soldering the new capacitor was also easy. Everything works fine, despite the final soldering job being far from perfect.

I can not get the top panel off. Do you have to remove the door as well to get the top panel off?

Did you ever get any advice for this problem? Please repost if not.

What's with giving out a "poor" rating when being asked to repost so it will cue up again? Items over a month old are usually "stale" so you are asked to repost if you still need help.

AEG SANTO No_frost refrigerator beeps with 5 sec freqency

We have the same fridge, and I could not find my model either!

The label is hidden on the bottom of the top part on the left side, you need to take the veggie tray out to see it. I spent about 3 hours finding the model on the net, and in the manual it said where to look lol.

This mysterious model is the AEG SANTOS 3895-6 KG AKA S3895-6 KG productnumber 928405123-- last two digits can be 00-33.

We had the same problem, solution: press and hold the ON button for minimum of 3 seconds. The fridge switches off. Wait 10 seconds and repress the same button. That´s the quick fix.

To make it go away completely switch off fridge, pull out plug, and thoroughly clean the air vents on the back below using compressed air. After this the problem went away permanently.

Good practice to airclean every 6 or 7 months. You can find the manual for the S3895-6 KG on http://www.electrolux-ui.com:8080

AEG Santo Fridge 3774-6KA

Check the damper between the fridge and freezer. It may be broken or frozen open. If this happens and you have a water reservoir in the fridge then it could freeze and crack - leak and then flood your house... Shut off the water supply until you get the problem fixed.
