Control Panel Touch Screen Goes Blank

MY Sharp R-340D unit is about 3 years old. It worked perfectly until about a month ago when the Control Panel screen went blank. When I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in, the screen returned and the unit worked flawlessly again. Now, I lose the screen every day. When the screen goes blank so does its touch sensitivity, meaning there's no response when I touch the screen. To get the unit to work, I have to unplug it and plug it in again. The screen stays on for about 1/2 a day and the unit works perfectly and then the screen goes blank again. It seems like an odd problem. Is it the control panel? Is is a shielding problem? Is it something else? Can I replace the control panel myself? I repair computers. How would I find the part number and where would I buy it? Thanks for your help.

I have my daughter's Sharp R-340F 1200W microwave. The control panel doesnt work. When switching it off and back on, an 'L' starts flashing, gradually fades away to nothing. As the microwave otherwise works well (the little I have used it), I would appreciate a user guide and manual (poss a cookbook as well?) for this model. (Other microwaves I've had have been other brands and slightly less wattage). I cant seem to find a manual for this particular model on the net.

I have a 12yo Sharp r-430cs microwave. The LED is not displaying all the "lights" in the numbers/alpha readouts. It is missing a lot more of the readout than it is showing. Everything else is working

Go to Sharp's website and check availability of the clock/timer readout board. Being that old you may not be successful, but it;s worth a try.

Powers off immediately after starting

My immediate reaction would be to cut your losses and buy a new unit as sooner or later you will run into a part that is no longer available.

Hello, I have a GE Spacemaker 2.0 (JVM2070SK) and with an electronic touch panel. The unit is 3 years old, the panel lights up with all the options however, when you touch the screen nothing happens. Then...

This is a common problem, and they're often intermittent.

You'll need a new touch screen.

You can get complete details on all these 2070-series microwaves on my page here:

Microwave came on by itself

Yes this is usually caused by the touch assy, but $278 !!!!! Thats kinda steep considering the panel assy is only around 30-60 bucks!!! It will need the touch assy and even possibly the control board, because sometimes the logic IC gets fried and causes "ghost issues" as well.

My Sharp R-340D microwave works perfectly but Does NOT HEAT FOOD

Waleed, Since the microwave is going through all its motions we can feel safe that the oven and magnetron thermostats are ok. If they were bad you would not have a display. Just inside the control panel to the left, you have 3 switches which the door activates. A primary (top switch) a secondary (bottom switch) and a monitor switch (middle). If the primary or secondary switch is not closing when the door is shut, you high voltage side will not activate, therefore no heat. If the monitor switch failed or found either the primary or secondary switch closed with the door open, it would blow the main fuse and the oven would be dead. Therefore Im leaning on either the primary or secondary switch not operating correctly. When checking these switches, unplug and discharge the capacitor. This is high voltage. Good luck
