Press the MENU button. Select the toolbox icon. Select the toolbox-1 icon. Select the "A" icon.

You know I think it is just that the camera can't change language because I have gone to the toolbox-1 icon and there is no A icon. I downloaded the manual and was able to follow it despite being in japanese and the screen that should have the A does not. It is identical in every other way so at this point I have basically deciphered how to use it following the icons.
