Ok I am wondering if my motor in my 91 gmc 5.7 l b8 is a vortec or a 350 it has throttle body carb and not sure thought if I could interchange it with an older 350 ..

Here, is what I think you are asking. The TBI intake from a 91 will fit the same size engine from 88 to 95. The Vortec didn't come out till 96 I believe. So if your 91 is the original engine then it is not a Vortec motor. If you want to swap your 5.7 with another 5.7 (5.7 = 350) Then the 88-95 should work, Just double check your sensors and locations as the plugs may be different and or in different locations. I know my 88 GMC and my 94 chevy (both K1500's) were a little different. Hope this helps.

I asked a question earlier about my water gauge. I stated that the needle was bouncing around. What I meant to say is that it reaches a certain temp. and then drops. It keeps repeating itself. Is this a...

Doubt it's a thermostat....more likely a bad sending unit.

I'm not sure about a Vortec, but a standard 350 would have the sending unit on the outside edge, toward the front of the drivers side head (could be between the 1st and 2nd plug) (remember, drivers side)

Yea as long as they are both manual transmissions everything will bolt up the same.If you use your old transfer case you will still have push button.

What do i need to set the timing on a 1997 350 vortec

The distributor ignition system on this engine is completely controlled by the PCM. No adjustment is possible (unless you reprogram the PCM using a system 2000 pc and Tech 2 scan tool). If you are having a problem in which you believe the ignition is at fault, I would start diagnosing elsewhere.
