I had the same problem with my sony CDX-GT540UI and solved it! I just kept clicking the "source/off" button when the display was showing the demo and suddenly it started switching to USB/CD/AUX etc. This means that the contacts inside the micro-switch were stuck in the down position, continuously making contact, and blocking the signals from the other buttons. Have to replace the micro-switch now.

SOURCE: Frozen buttons

Hi I am Vortash your radio I take it has a removeable security face , is it the type that folds down on a slide that allows you to put the cd in behind or do you place the cd through a slot in the faciure .. if it is the afformentioned then check the connecting ribbon is not damaged and cracked stopping the opperations .. if it is the latter check that the pins on the rear of the facia are clean and undamaged .. failing that there is nothing that you can do other than try a new facia or return it to the manufactures .. If you are In the Uk and your unit is under six years old then you have rights under the consumer act to get it repaired or replaced by the shop you purchased it from even if the guarantee has expired . All goods in the uk are coverd by this act so dont let the shop tell you any diffrent .. if they dont play ball report them to trading standards and they will take up your case in law . check out www.bbc.co.uk/oneshow and it is explained on there . If in the USA check out your consumer rights with the department of consumer trading .. hope this helps regards Vortash

Make sure that you have the antenna plugged in and if you have a power antenna make sure that you hook up the solid blue antenna wire behind on the radio harness to the power antenna wire from the car plug.

SOURCE: How do ya work this thing?

I had the same problem. I would just take the face plate off and put it back on, shift it around a little and after a couple DAYS of doing this it would start working again. It did this to me about once a month. Also to eject, slide the eject bar down so its covering the screen, then slide it down til it clicks, wait until the CD comes out before you slide the bar back up.
Once your player has started doing this volume this I suggest getting a new one altogether because it will drive you crazy.

It sounds like you are using an amplifier. Make sure you are using the blue/white wire to turn the amplifier on. The blue/white wire is amplifier remote turn on and the blue wire is power antenna remote turn on. The blue wire turns off when leaving tuner mode, turning the amplifier off.

I recently installed my sony xplod to my jeep and the radio, volume works fine. when i insert a cd, i hear nothing, counter and track displays but no sound...please help

are you using an amplifier? if so, it sounds like you are using the blue wire (antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on) to turn the amplifier on.

When I turn off my truck and the blue lights on, it turns off but when the radios on and I turn the truck off the radio does turn off unless I hit the off button! Help sony xplod cdx-gt640

do you mean the blue light on the power button? it sounds like your radio's switched power input (usually red) is hooked up to a 12 volt constant source.

Stolen faceplate

the GT-200 is the cheapest of the sony line. A new radio can be obtained for under $50. A faceplate direct from sony would be approximately the same amount. Check eBay or Craigslist for a used one.
