Error code dLF

The washer will click 4 or 5 times to start cycle the the error message code is dLF. What does this mean??

  • Anonymous Nov 11, 2008

My Kenmore front load washer does the same thing, intermittently. I have found a way to get rid of the error, it has worked about 25 times, consistently. Remove the top cover, remove the connector for the door latch from the control board. Reach around and press any control button for any wash (normal, delicate, etc.). Then hit Cancel. Now re-connect the door lock connector. The problem goes away until next time, at least it has for me. There must be something getting latched up, and it gets reset by doing this. Hope this helps!

"Fdl" is a door latch failure error code. This is usually an indication that the door latch requires replacement. The manufacturer recommends unplugging the washer for at least 30 minutes to reset the computer. In some cases, the washer will experience momentary "glitches" and can be cleared using this method. You may also want to inspect the door latch wiring to ensure all the connector plugs are intact and not loose or broken. You can access the door latch wiring harness by removing the top panel of the washer. Removing the panel is simple. Just remove the three screws that hald the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off. Locate the door latch assembly behind the front panel on the right hand side. Trace all the connectors from the door latch to the Central Control Unit (CCU) and make sure they are properly seated at both ends. If these preliminary steps do not clear your problem, it is recommended that you replace the door latch. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587965-door_latch_replacement_fdl_error

You can find a replacement latch assembly at searspartsdirect.com or repairclinic.com if you wish to order online. Just type in your complete model number. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance. Hopefully you can solve your problem without requiring parts.

I have a whirlpool cabrio washer for a while now here and there i was pulling out soaking wet clothes.and ofcourse my warranty ran out yesterday and now it will not start any cycle all its does is sense...

This particular washer has a test that we can run to see any errors. This can be confusing on this model.
I am including a document below that will describe how to view the old error codes. Use the section that starts with Activating the service diagnostic modes. You can start with the cycle selector knob at any position.
  1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off).
  2. Perform the following sequence of movement using the cycle selector knob. NOTE: After reset, sequence "a" through "e" must be completed within 6 seconds. When it tells you to rotate the cycle selector knob, it means 1 click, not a full turn. Once you have completed the cycle knob turns reset and "a" through "e", turn the cycle selector 1 click clockwise from the position it is already in. This is the fault code display mode. Then press the start button. Each time you turn the cycle selector knob 1 click clockwise after pressing start will show you an error code. Note: this washer stores 4 codes if any. The error codes on this washer are displayed in this format: F5 E3, F7 E1, etc. There is an error code chart in the image below.
If there are no error codes stored, I recommend that you start from the beginning (step 1 above) and then run the Automatic test mode. If this unit detects a problem, it will display the error at the end of this test.
Here is a list for the errors.

My GHW9150PWO Whirlpool Duet washer is flashing dL F message code and won't start, just makes a clicking noise and then flashes the above message code.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error "dlf" means a door latch failure. This means that you'll need to replace the door latch assembly however before doing that you can leave the washer unplugged for 30minutes so that it resets itself. In the meantime when it's unplugged just inspect the door latch wiring to ensure all the connector plugs are intact and not loose or broken. You can access the door latch wiring harness by removing the top panel of the washer. To remove the top panel just remove the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. Trace all the connectors from the door latch to the Central Control Unit (CCU) and make sure they are properly seated at both ends. If after doing this still the issue is not resolved then unfortunately you have to get the door latch replaced. Please rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Front Loading washer Kenmore Ht3

Here are the steps to unlocking the door manually if clothes are still in the machine.
1.Unplug machine
2.remove bottom panel
3.Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the botttom of the door latch assembly
4.Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear dropped shaped tab
5. Gently pull down on the tab about a 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
6. You may now open the door.

This code means the door lock mechanism has failed or the central control unit has failed. Replace the door lock mech. first. This should fix the problem. (before replacing anything make sure there is no obstruction around the switch or in the switch.) After the machine has been unplugged it may fix itself. if not replace door lock mech.

The following link explains the "FH" error and recommendations you should take:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

Eliminate the easy possibilites, first. Make sure you don't have a siphoning issue and make sure the drain pump is not clogged. Listen carefully, when the washer fills and make sure you have sufficient water entering the wash tub. These washer only use about 5 to 7 gallons of water per load, but you should still be able to see and hear water entering the tub. If you have an insufficient amount of water, you may want to inspect the water inlet valve for sediment build up. If you live in an area that has hard water and/or use well water, you could likely have sediment or rust deposits clogging your water inlet valve. A good cleaning with distilled vinegar does a good job at getting rid of deposits.

If these preliminary checks don't do the job, unplug the washer for at least 30 minutes. This is recommended by the manufacturer to reset the main computer. In many cases, this procedure will clear common glitches and error codes.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you are still experiencing problems and I will assist you further.
