Starter rope hard to pull on mantis tiller

Sounds like your engine may be seized up. Mine did the same thing and I had to replace the block. If any dirt gets past the air cleaner or if your fuel mixture isn't right it won't take long to lock it up. If you need info on where to find parts, let me know. Good luck.

Mantis tiller idle screw adjustment

Start out with 1.5 turns on High speed jdet and 1/2 turn on the low speed. Make sure plug is not wet, better yet install a new one. Clean, fresh fuel and give it a pull.

I have a mantis chipmate. It runs off

Mine switches when it is cold or (even slightly) jammed. I've taken the housing apart to clean the rotor and the inside of the housing twice with success. afterwards, cold or not, the rotor gets up to speed without frying switched off.

Mantis only runs with choke half on.

Try fuel with 30% injector cleaner (or 25% auto transmission fluid) Something is clogging the fuel route.

No getting gas in the plastic bubble

First, check your fuel filter. It is in the fuel tank. Get a small hook and pull it out. It will use a typical 2-cycle fuel filter that is weighted to keep the filter on the bottom of the fuel tank. If it looks good, replace it anyway. You can find the filter at any Stihl shop or most hardware stores that sell chainsaws, weed whackers and leaf blowers.Second, check your fuel line. Make sure that it is clear of debris.Third, a check valve on your carburetor might have gone bad. They do that. The check valve is in the part that is just below the primer bulb (if you have one). They are inexpensive and if you purchase on, go ahead and get the carburetor kit which has all of the diaphragms, gaskets and needle valve.Forth, just replace the carburetor. They are about $40 (Zuma).Good luck,Mark
