Check that the fuel filter is sitting near the bottom of the tank, and not somehow being held near the top of the tank.

I would contact mantis - The tines are covered by a lifetime waranty, and they should send you replacement tines for just S&H. Not a bad deal for New tines. Trying to bend them back might void the warranty and could result in your getting hurt if a piece breaks off while the thing is running.

it is a 50:1 gas:oil mix. I'd also strongly recommend adding a fuel stabilizer to the mix, as a tiller has a tendency to sit for long periods without being used. Good luck!

If you haven't already, check the spark plug. Might be carboned up.

One screw is fuel and one is air, try turning the screws in all the way then open three turns and start from there.

you can do this on your own all you need to do is blow it out with a air commpressor

Its running lean. Needs adjustment or carb rebuild

try fresh fuel gas is only good for 30 days in small engines

check for spark the coil might have failed

you might need to open the carb and clean it and replace the gaskets and diaframs

no the worm gear is not designed to

You don't say where the smoke came from but check out the worm gear box and see if gear is eaten up. Supposed to be greased regularly but gear can wear out over time or overloaded digging. .
