The actual "poor boy fix"-

Put your magneto back on there, and stick a business card from your wallet in between it and the rotor. Let the magneto pull itself to it, you center it, and give it just a hair of breathing room (to slide the card back out). Tighten 'er down, and you got it.

1.- If you can't pull the card out, it is too tight.

2.- If you pull the card out easily, too loose.

3.- JUST enough to pull it out, and have it drag just a bit on the way out is JUST ENOUGH!

Remember, on 4-strokes, they ARE forgiving, and can do miracles even if you try your best to destroy them.

it has to be spark or no fuel feed remove spark plug lezaving spark plug wire check for spark if you have spark then you know it iseither fuel filter or carburator 9 out of 10 times carb needs cleaning

Try taking the fuel jet out and blowing out the little hole that goes through it. Just a little bit of dirt will not let the engine run. While you got the jet out take the fuel bowl off and clean that as well. Be careful and don't mess up the float when you do this as sometimes they are hard to get back in. I find a lot of small engines I get in has a dirty fuel bowl and jet That's all i do in a lot of machines to get them running again..

sounds like carb. could use a good cleaning

thake out the plug and pull the cord a few times that should clear any oil on the head clean plug and try again if the mower is old the piston rings are either worn or broken allowing oil to get into the fuel .

sounds like you either have a bad fuel filter or your carb needs a good cleaning i would lean to the carb cleaning
