Toro Blowers Rake and Vac - Electric Blower/Vac - 51573 Questions & Answers
ELECTRIC blower will not start.
There may be a shorted winding in the motor. Bypassing the breaker may smoke the whole thing. Look in your phone book or online to find a Toro repair facility. They'll have any parts you need
Electrical burning smell
I had one like this. The problem is probably something wrapped around the blower. You may have injested anything from string to a piece of plastic.
Won't turn on
Some of these have a reset button in a tiny hole in the bottom rear of the unit. Try pressing the reset with a hair pin or a paper clip. then try turning it on again. Hope it works for you.
Carbon brush for blower toro
I had a broken brush for an electic weed eater. I could not replace just the brush. I would have been required to purchase the whole electric motor. I chose to get rid of it, it just was not worth it. I suppose you may try to find a parts one, good luck. Or maybe see if you can get access to a carbon brush kit like the ones used for industrial maintenance. That may be your best shot, depending on who you know. Otherwise you will probably have to replace it. Sorry.

I have a Toro 524 with Tecumseh engine, model
The high speed mixture screw is initially set at 1 & 1/2 turns out. Then adjust it to give good acceleration and top speed, while not closing the screw more than you need to. The low speed mixture screw is set at 3/4 of a turn out. Adjust that, to give a smooth idle. The 3rd screw, the idle speed screw, is set to give a low idle speed without stalling.
My toro snow blower, ccr
4 stroke engines that do this, sometimes have a problem with the fuel tank venting. If the tank isn't venting correctly, a vacuum will result, and fuel will cease to flow to the carburetor. Make the the fuel cap isn't getting smothered and is able to "breathe." Check the holes in it and make sure it is clean. If snow covers it while operating, occasionally wipe it off. Many people have had this problem in the South in warm weather with their lawnmowers and as puzzling a problem as it is, sometimes this is the simple solution. Clean that fuel tank cap and keep it that way.
Toro s 200 snowthrower electric start when air
Can you hear the motor run when you try to start it when it's cold? If so then it could be in the drive mechanism. I had one that I thought had a bad bendix in the starter. Here it has a rubber disc that turns the starter sprocket. I removed the retainer, took off the sprocket. Cleaned everything and re-assembled, and low and behold it worked. A new starter was over $100.00. Now if yours doesn't even turn when its cold, I'd look into the starter push button, or key switch for bad connection.
Just cleaned out my father's garage and came up
You need to clean the carb, make sure fuel lines are not cracked and brittle (replace if necessary) , clean fuel tank thoroughly, especially if there was still fuel in tank. Check for spark, mix a new batch of fuel (if mix is required) and start that mother it will probably run as good as new. Good Luck...
Where can I find brushes
If you're Toro electric blower is slowing down, throwing sparks, or not starting you may need to replace the carbon brushes. Replacing brushes and cleaning commutator early can prevent damage to motor armature!
Toro replacements are hard to find because Toro does not sell them and it is tricky to make you own.

Normally, if the commutator is damaged / scratched the motor's servicibility is suspect.
A couple of options.
1) You can try to sand down (lightly!) the commutator with a very fine (1200+ grit) sand paper. It is crucial that all segments be sanded the same amount so that the commutator maintains a cylinder shape. If it is out of round by a few thousandths of an inch, it will cause increased brush wear, arcing, and eventually brush failure.
2) Take the motor to an electric motor / alternator - starter rebuild shop. They already are setup to do what you need to do, and they may be able to point you in the direction of an alternate source for the brush holder assembly.
For Parts, goto
here and click on the parts link near the bottom. Keep in mind that the diagrams are different for the data of manufacture for your blower. It doesn't look like the motor or the brush holder assy is available for purchase though. Check with local motor repair shop.
