Have you tried reassigning the guitar to another controller port, one that's not linked to the microphone? Or are you using a different dongle with the guitar than what came with it?

it's your laser with something like dust keeping it from reading the discs. Just get a simple CD cleaner kit, one that has the little brush on it and then of course put some solution on it. Rubbing alchol will due. This happens to everyone eventually.

If it doesn't do it after playing the cleaning disk three times for around 10 secs each, then you may want to open it up and put clean the laser lens directly with a rubbing alchol soaked que tip and a dry one. For more instructions on how to open it do a search on fixya and there is one guru who goes into great detail about this.

Solution:

Enter Game mode/ Training mode whatever mode USING THAT INSTRUMENT. I repeat DO not use the controller (the xbox360 controller) unless you want to use the microphone. It makes sense the microphone has no control hence by default if your'e using the controller the game THINKS you want to play with the microphone.

Ok time to call you all idiots and ask the most basic question, did you buy this used? If so did you get the wireless receiver dongle with it? All GH or rock band guitars require a USB receiver dongle.

I had a mic that wouldn't register in the ps3 for Rock Band. Tried a different mic and that worked better. Possibly a short in the wires causing it not to read.

Do all your other games work? If not, it sounds like the control arm of the actual blu-ray player has worn out. Hope this helps.

turn your controller off and just plug in your guitar

Heres The Problem Scott.. When rock band was first released it was not compatible with guitar hero's guitar. only guitars from world tour forward will work with rock band

It Can be repaired.. and i found some extra parts for it online. try ebay or amazon.

yes its a simple fix.
go to menu
settings or calibration(depending on which game)
go to calibrate
follow the intructions of the calibration

i think that your playstation has worn out and i personally would be going onto a site like ebay and buying a new ps2, you could pick up a cheap second hand one for 50 bucks

This is a fualty reciepter inside the drum. I have not got this game so i dont know how to open the drum head or underside. however i have expierienced problems like this before. Either something has come loose i.e receptor or a wire. Or the receptor i broken which will mena buying a new one . I suggest pening it up and very carefully without electrcuting yourself touch the receptor and see if it make the drum work.

it could be that your not using a HDMI cable.
