I'd contact Brother. No guarantees they can fix it over the phone, but I've dealt with them for years and their service has always been topnotch. If they can possibly help you over the phone, they will.

Check walking foot does not have any small catching edges. rub with light wet & dry paper.

Hi if the needle is hitting the needle plate you best get in touch with who you bought it from, The needle position is a critical adjustment and is done in conjunction with other adjustments.

sounds like something may have broke or come loose,, I'd take the machine to someone else to have it checked to see what the poping sound was

ck fuse in bottom , also there is one in foot pedal as well , but that one wont keep screen from lighting up

I don't use mine, it seems to flimsy and makes me nervous! I have several machines and some are singer that can run off that same power cord, don't get caught up on a specific model as they will really get you for the price.
