How can I install recovery tank latches on Hoover Steam Vacuum model F-220?

To install the recovery tank latches on a Hoover Steam Vacuum model F-220, follow these steps:
  1. First, make sure that the recovery tank is empty and that the machine is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Locate the two latch slots on the sides of the recovery tank. These are the slots where the latches will be installed.
  3. Hold one of the latches with the clip facing up and the open end facing the latch slot.
  4. Insert the latch into the latch slot, making sure that the clip is facing towards the front of the machine.
  5. Repeat this process for the other latch on the opposite side of the recovery tank.
  6. Once both latches are installed, close the recovery tank and make sure that it is securely locked in place.
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hoover Steamvac hose won't spray water

SOLUTION#1 If the attachment wont spray water, the white plastic nozzle tip may be clogged. Take the brush attachment off, remove the two screws from the gray retaining cover (BE CAREFUL THE WHITE TIP UNDER THE BLACK PLASTIC TRIGGER MECHANISM IS SPRING LOADED and WILL GO FLYING). The trigger mechanism can be taken apart by lifting the black part off (may have to slide it back slightly), remove the spring from the white plastic valve insert, then take a flat screw driver and carefully pry the two white pieces apart and blow out both ends. You may have to find a hair size piece of wire to push threw it to clear it. The whole process is really simple once you take it apart and see how it works. Putting it together is in reverse order. The white piece will only go in to the black part one way and with the spring on you need to push it through the hole and the trigger part hooks on, slide it back on to the hose, then while holding it all, and put the gray retaining cover back on. Sounds more difficult than it really is. If your not mechanically inclined take some pictures as your taking it apart to refer to.Solution#2 If the nozzle and trigger are clear, with the trigger assembly off the hose, plug the hose into the shampooer and turn it on (if the hose inside the suction hose is clear you should start seeing water flowing out the hose. If not run a piece of wire through that hose to unclog it. If its still not flowing then the Pump on the unit needs to be replaced.Solution #3Cost Around $20 with shipping online. Google your make and model, and upholstery attachemnt pump. Mine was called AP4561692 (43582018) PUMP ASSM, from http://www.appliancepartspros.com/. (there real good about the live chat and helping you find the part). There are Youtube videos on taking apart the shampooer, which is pretty easy. The one place that might give you problems after you get down to taking the pump off, there is only one screw holding but there is on the bottom side of the pump a black bump that clips in to the base of the shampooer and you need to stick a screw driver from the bottom up and pry the base one way and pull the pump the other to unhook it.

Cleaning uphoustry

Furniture cleaning isn't a science: try out a few techniques before choosing the one that is right for your belongings. This step-by-step guide explains how to clean a sofa:
  1. Before using any upholstery cleaning products, vacuum the sofa or chair first to remove as much surface dirt and dust as possible. Be sure to use the correct attachments to avoid damage to the material - a soft brush attachment is ideal.
  1. Spot Clean. Using baby wipes or vinegar poured onto a strong microfiber cloth, apply to any obvious stains, wiping gently as you go. Remember to test the upholstery cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first.
  1. Overall Clean. Using soapy water and a microfibre cloth, gently wipe your sofa with the solution, allowing it to soak into the fabric and tackle the dirt beneath the surface. You only want to use a very small amount of water - don't saturate the material.
  1. Dry. Some people use a hairdryer to quickly dry a sofa, but allowing it to dry naturally is always the better option, if you have the time. To speed things up, open windows and allow the breeze to help with the drying process.

Red float keeps popping up

You need to clean the debris channel. Put the machine on a waist high flat surface open it and remove the dirty water container. You will see three vertical screws which lock the scroll above the motor to the clear plastic panel at the front of the machine. Open these screws and remember which one belongs where. To the left of the scroll, there is a black horizontal screw which should also be removed. If you look closely, you will see the right hand of the first three screws (brushes face to your right hand) has also released the plexiglass (clear plastic screen where you see the dirt and soap flowing at the left side. Now put the machine on its side and look at the front edge of the plexiglass just ahead of the brushes. There are two screws which have to be removed - one on each side and bingo the plexiglass shape lifts clear. Clean out the muck, check the scroll channel for similar muck and reassemble.

The muck is plugging the dirt path and fooling the red float that the tank is full.

Re assemble the reverse of the disassembly procedure. Do not use a power screwdriver as you will likely shear the screw heads.

Good luck,

How do I clean the hoover steam vac floor cleaner

Nozzle Clean Out tool is NO LONGER AVAILABLE from Hoover. Hoover stopped making this part over 1 year ago, and it's not sold any more. What you'll need to do is remove the dirty solution thank, unscrew the one silver screw on the suction port of the clear window, then turn the machine upside down and remove the two silver screws on the bottom corners of the see thru window. This will then allow you to completely remove the see thru part to clean inside of it. Unfortunately with this model that's really the easiest way to do it now that the tool is no longer available.

I have oak floor and there are scuff marks. Is it...

If you have a wax finish you can buff out scuffs with just a cloth. for polyurethane, do not use water. use the cleaner with a soft terry cloth. to much presure can make it worse.you can also use a small amount of paint thinner on polyurethane. make sure you remove excess with floor cleaner.

HooverSpin Scrub and the brushes always stop spinning.

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The Hoover SteamVac's are notorious for this exact problem. There are several things that can be causing this probelm.

First, what you'll need to do is take the brush block out of the machine. To do this there are 4 clips on the brush block. You will need to turn the machine upside down, and pull down on the brush block to where it won't pull out any farther. There are 4 clips, 2 on top, and 2 on the rear of the brushes. (See picture I have circled one of the clips in red). Simply press these clips at the same time, and pull the brush block out of the machine. I'd say that 60% of the time that I see this problem, the main issue is that the brushes just need to be cleaned. If you have pets in the home, a lot of the time the pet hair will just be lodged inside the brushes, will prevent them from spinning. Use a pressurized water hose with spray nozzle is ideal) and spray each brush with water to dislodge any pet hair. You should be able to get these brushes spinning when you spray them. Spray each brush until the brushes are spinning pretty fast. Re-insert the brushes into the machine, and test to see if the cleaning has fixed your problem. If the cleaning still fails to fix the problem, take the brushes back out of the machine.

One you have the brushes out of the machine, the first thing you should look at the brush stem that goes into the turbine inside the machine. This is the green pole pictured in middle of the brush block. Examine this pole to determine if the top of it has broken off. It should exactly how the picture shows it. Make sure that the plastic has not broken.

If the pole has broken, you will simply need to replace the brush block. If the pole is not damaged, the next thing to try is to turn the machine on while you have the brushes out. Look inside the machine, where the pole goes into the turbine (also important, make sure the switch for the brushes is turned to "Rotating Brush Speed Hi), this female receptacle should spin when the machine is turned on. It is important the try this when the foot pedal is released, and the handle down, and not in the upright position, as there is an internal switch that shuts the brushes off when the machine is in the upright position.

If you notice that the female receptacle where the brush pole is inserted is spinning, then your turbine is fine. If this part is not spinning, then most likely you will need to replace your turbine.

I hope this helps you with your problem. If not, please feel free to request a repair clarification and I'd be happy to walk you through the diagnosing. I also can provide you with a blown up parts schematic to your machine, please just get the model number off the back of the machine and provide, and provide me with the full model number. I would be happy to provide any technical support you need, just request a clarification on the repair.

The brushes on my F7206-900

All I'm wondering is how to get the back plastic by the wheels off? I can't find any screws! This older model isn't like the ones shown on Internet sites. Seems they simplified the model, which is a good thing.
