Burning plastic smell when using

HI, Thanks for contacting the FixYa team.

1. Plastic Burning Smell - This means that there is friction in a plastic part of your Dyson. The only place this will be coming from is the BrushBar. The brushbar has jammed somehow. The smell arises as the rubber belt is still trying to turn the plastic brushbar but the brushbar is not moving. To solve the problem you will need to unscrew the soleplate using a 2 pence piece, this is done by inserting the 2 pence piece into the 3 plastic screws on the underneath of the Dyson. Turn the screws a quarter anticlockwise. You can then remove the soleplate. You will probably see that there is a build up of debris by the brushbar. This is more common on The Animal version as pet hair mixed with dust gets stuck in here, especially if the machine has been used on a damp or wet surface. So clean this area out and then try manually rotating the brush bar in each direction. If you have been using the machine for too long with the burning smell then it is likely that your brushbar will be melted where the belt attaches to it. If this is the case then you will need to get a new brushbar. If the brushbar is not too damaged check that the belt has not broken. If the belt has not broken then replace the soleplate. Turn the screws a quarter in a clockwise direction. Should your belt be broken then please re-post and we will show you how to sort this. Thank you

My Dyson DC07 won't turn on!

you may have a broken belt. Bad news regarding all Dyson's. You can't replace just the belt your self. You have to purchase a new belt assembly which includes the gears. And it wont be cheap. I would call it a design flaw but i am sure that dyson calls it a profit scheme.

I have a eureka and there is alot of hair around the piece at the end of the roller, how can I get it out? I have tri tweezers, knife, etc, but the thingy still has hair and it won't tunr. afraid it wi

Look carefully at the housing. Often there are buttons or clips you can loosen to allow the roller to be replaced and also give you access without removing the belt. Go online and search for your eureka model and look for a user guide or manual, which may also help. Good luck!

I have a Dyson DC07. The roller wasn't spinning so I cleaned the brush of hair and fibers. That SEEMED to do the trick. But while vacuuming I noticed again that the roller brush was not spinning AGAIN

You may need new belts. Belts lose elasticity from being stretched. The clutch must be removed and disassembled to change the belts. It's easier to replace the clutch. The belts will be tight and It's difficult without a special tool. While you have the brushroll out pull the shaft out of the center and clean hair and debris from it or replace brushroll if worn or frayed.

My Dyson kicks dirt out

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. To fix any you vacuum problem, a proper maintenance will do the trick. Most of the time cleaning the filters, checking for blockages and clearing the passageways, and cleaning the brush roll assembly will resolve this. And if after doing maintenance it is still the same, that replacing the parts will most of the time make your vacuum work like brand new. How do you reset the reset switch on dyson dc17 vacuum

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. I don't think there is a reset button to any Dyson cleaners. However, yourDyson vacuum has a safety device which automatically shuts off if it begins to overheat. In cases like this, you may need to wash your filters and check for blockages. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Before turning it back on, make sure that there are no blockages in the attachments and filters are washed. The roller on my Dyson

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner is pulsating off and on. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this. Reduce suction Dyson DC41 Animal Complete Upright

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty the it. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris. Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it. Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum. My dyson dc07 brush is

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance. First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing. While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all. Dyson vacuum has no suction but beater bar spins

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. Most of the time the reason why vacuum is not picking up is due to loss of suction. You may need to check for blockages of your wand and hose. Remove the wand and hose from your cleaner when checking for blockages and any damages. Make sure to turn off and unplug your vacuum from the power before doing this. Just started use my dyson dc07 it is new but is very noisy after my dc04 broke down.

Your dc04 breaking down is unlikely to be causing the excessive noise of your new dc07 unless you've trying to vacuum up the dc04 with the dc07?? It may be that the operating noise of a dc04 is lower that that of a dc07 however if the noise is excessive then you should get it replaced by the vendor.
