by default the machine always start with the hoop centered so make sure you have the center of your design in the center of the hoop then when your machine starts it will move the spot where the digitizer started the design. First, check your thread to see if it is too old. Yank on a strand; if it breaks, throw it out. Have a pro check and clean your machine. This is good to do even if it doesn't seem to need it. The person who does this can answer questions about the problem you are having, also. Good luck!

Have you tried looking on www.youtube.com ? There may be a video there, OR, try the Brother website.

It may be the number of stitches in the design. Each hoop size has a maximum number of stitches it can stitch, even though the size seems ok. OR, perhaps there is just one stitch that 'infiltrates' the border area that is necessary around each design in the hoop. Check with Brother.com
