Downlaod-error messege when attempting to reset iPod classis
If when you have a new ipod and you connect it to a computer, if the first computer you connect it to is a mac, then that is the only type of pc it will work with after that. If you want it to connect it to a windows, you will have to restore it which will allow it to work with windows software. For some reason unknown, mac and windows have different loading software for the ipod and has to be re-installed with a restore before it can work with a different operating system. When it restores on your computer, check to make sure it has a strong internet connection. You should be able to restore after that.
Audiobook to ipod
That is the problem. iTunes will only allow you to put audiobooks in that section if they were bought from the iTunes store. It's very annoying, but i suggest just making a playlist to hold all the files. iTunes doesn't let you set the type as "Audiobook" for files.

corrupt iPod cache to damaged Files or to damaged disk structure.

My ipod is showing red
Well banging it certainly will not help. That being said, leave it plugged in and charging overnight. iPod batteries generally in older models takes forever to charge...make sure lock is on...you will see an orange/red mark..
My ipod classic 120gb black has scrambled file
your songs and pix should be backed up in your itunes library. So that should not be a problem. First try erasing and restoring you ipod in your itunes library. Sometimes it takes a few time to do. You can also hard reboot your ipod by powering it up and holding the center button and the menu button at the same time until the screen goes black for a second and then the apple logo will show up ... once you erase or reboot it connect it to you itunes and reload the media you want on it .. . hope this helps
