KitchenAid Washer with no spin
Hi, so you have a kitchinaid washer that is not spinning and making a horrible noise.
More than likley you have a bad drive coupler. Which is located if you tip the unit back. not all the way, just enough to see the inerds of the washer. I usually prop it against the wall. There is your pump and attached to the pump is your motor. Between the motor and the transmission is your drive coupler. take the pump and motor off to gain acces to this part. there are 2 clips for the pump and 2 clips for the motor. usually 2 screws holding the clips for pump 2. Take the motor off and you will see the coupler. there is a grommet that goes between the 2 pieces sometimes that gets worn out and you will see black soot on the ground. That's a good indicationg that the coupler is the culprite
Kitchenaid dishwasher wont drain
1 Allow the current cycle to complete. Draining will occur at the end of the cycle.
2 Close and latch the door. The dishwasher will not drain if the door is not properly secured.Press the "Cancel/Drain" button on the dishwasher to start a two-minute drain cycle.
4 Remove the knockout plug in the disposer outlet of the garbage disposal if the dishwasher drains into the disposal. Turn off the water supply and remove the drain hose from the disposal. Place the tip of a screwdriver on the plug and tap it lightly with a hammer to remove it. Replace the drain hose and turn the water supply on.
Clogged Drain5 Run the garbage disposal to empty it and clear the drain if the dishwasher drains into the disposal.
6 Remove the cover on the air gap on the sink or countertop. Turn the plastic cap counterclockwise to remove it. Remove soil from the inside of the air gap. Replace the plastic cap and cover.
7 Check the sink. Dishwashers connected to a sink will not drain if the sink drain is clogged. Unclog the sink. Contact a plumber, if needed.
Issues With the Drain Hose8 Check to see if there is a loop in the drain hose. The loop cannot be more than 20 inches above the floor. Disconnect the hose and loop it just above the floor. Reconnect the drain hose.
9 Remove kinks in the drain hose. Always use the new drain hose included with the dishwasher. Do not reuse old hoses.
10 Check the length of the drain hose. The hose should be less than 12 feet long. Replace with a shorter hose, if needed.
No cold water will come in
make sure cold water is turned on first.lf it is then shut off cold and hot water to washer. take off cold water hose at water valve and check to see if the screen in the water valve is plugged. if it is not you will have to replace the water valve. good luck.
Motor runs but agitator will
if its just the top protion of the agitator that will not spin you need what is call "dog ears" whirlpool part number 80040 if the whole agitator will not move at all( upper and lower) protions then you either have a bad motor coupler pt number 285753a or a transmission problem. good luck
Base of agitator froze up.
Take the back off of the machine and see if the motor turns. You may have had a transmission seize. If you see oil on the floor under it, this is even more likely. Often the oil leaks out and then the transmission seizes. Unless you can get a used one, it may not be worth fixing if the transmission is bad. Remove the motor by taking out the two 5/16" (8mm) screws that hold the spring clips that hold the motor on. Remove the spring clips and the motor. See if the coupling on the transmission side will turn both directions. If not, the transmission is most likely. The only other thing I can think of is if something got underneath the agitator and jammed it. You can get an exploded view at www.appliancepartspros.com to help you with disassembly. Let me know if you need more help with this. Good luck.
Agitator will not spin as usual. It just spins
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. If it doesn't
pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as
follows:
If the motor is
running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt.
To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the
pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace
it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to
check the pump pulley before you change the belt.
If the motor
isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine
can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing
machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the
top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective,
you need to replace it.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or
else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee
