Schumacher & Fast Charge Starter Charger - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
4 amp Viking battery charger has the clamp symbol blinking and won't charge battery
IN CAR
CONNECT TO BATTERY AND NOT HAVE CAR BATTERY CABLE CONNECTED,
HE CHARGER HAS BRIAN THAT WE ALL KNOW IS TINY AND LAME. OR SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE BEAR.
IF THE BATTERY HAS 1 WEAK CELL IT , MAY SHUT OFF.
THIS IS TO PREVENT BATTERY EXPLOSIONS.
EVEN CARS NEW, ALTERNATORS DO THIS TRICK./
USE A VOLT METER, AND CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE FIRST, IF AT 10V A CELL IS OPEN OR SHORTED,AND BOTH ARE BAD NEWS,. EOL OF BATTERY.
REPEAT THE TEST WITH BATTERY LUGS PULLED.
USE A VOLT METER.
OLD RELIC CHARGES DID NOT DO THIS, IT WORKS NO MATTER WHAT AND ON SOME A BAD BATTERY OVERHEATED FAST. BUT 4AMPS IS (TINY)

Need instructions manual.
There is a 1335 Farm and Ranch charger that is 200 amp. The 1235 does not say it is Farm and Ranch on the face, and is a 100 amp charger although automatic. It looks different from the 1335. I don't find a manual or the charger currently for sale on the Shumacher page but I do find you can download a manual for the SC1308 there and it physically looks like the fro1235, has the same interface controls, and is a 100 amp charger like the fro1235. I suspect the directions are the same for the interface. I have read consuer messages saying these manuals are confusing. If such is the case, you can try the customer service contact at the website. That said, these are supposed to be automatic and to not work if connectd to the wrong terminals by design.

The charging yellow light is not on when I plug
the wire at the clamps might have came off, there is a thermal fuse inside the charger also, get one at the auto parts store .bring the old one with you. OR some of the newer chargers are fussy that the battery must have some power to get the charger to turn on.. i use jumper cables to get my charger started..
DID I HELP ? VOTE . THANKS J

I believe you'll find all you need to know in the owner's manual which you can find here: http://www.batterychargers.com/Documents/00-99-000821.pdf

HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO
The meter is telling you approximately how much current (amps) it is sending to the battery. When the meter moves all of the way to the right it is charging as hard as it can (that would be 6 Amps) which indicates that the battery needs a lot of charging. As the battery becomes saturated with charge, the meter will move toward the left. As the battery become charged, the unit automatically tapers off the current. The meter can indicate as little as little as zero Amps, meaning it is not charging the battery at all - which is the case when the battery is powered up, but isn't even connected to the battery. If it reads zero when it's connected to the battery, the battery is broken and can't be charged.
Since this charger is rated at 6 amps, it will indicate about 3 amps when the battery is about done. It won't normally go to zero because those 3 amps are getting wasted just heating up the battery.

I have a schumacher se-82-6,i
If you look at the meter, the charge meter of 100% is slightly above the 2 amp mark so it is confusing. because it says the charge represents the amont charged and the amp meter shows when there is no draw on the charger. so if the battery shows 2.5 amp on the amp meter, it's showing 100% charged. but yet they say it should go to zero on the amp meter, which would mean about 150% charged. i think everyone is scared of blowing up or damaging their batteries because the instructions manual is quite contradictory and confusing. well apparantly, they have several versions of this model to make it more confusing, but here's a pic of what i have.
http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/zoom_images/1677820.jpgok, as i was looking for manual online, it is more detailed than the one in box. it now explains this in picture detail. thank you schumacher.here's the updated manual:
