95 fzr making a knocking sound as i drive.
I have a similar issue. When I decel. A sorta grinding takes place in the gear box..but only when I have a rider with me. Tho. I only weigh 150lbs.and when it's just me. All is well. Except for a ticking every so often and I only feel it in my left foot peddle and gear shifter. But when riding a passenger upon decelleration withe the clutch not pressed it's a rough grinding sound. Any body know why
Yamaha 6hp 4 stroke fuel filter not filling with fuel.
It should be possible to test the pump for proper function - there should be no need to replace it hoping for a cure.
A fuel pump should suck at one end and blow at the other and this can be measured using appropriate gauges and if those measurements are satisfactory the amount of fuel pumped can be measured...
Such tests are fairly routine on wheeled vehicles and not only are they a valuable aid to correct diagnosis they remove all doubt when warranty work is involved.

How to set the YAMAHA Fz400r MOTORCYLE timing mark
The Fz400r is a motorcycle engine produced by Yamaha. To set the timing mark on the Fz400r, follow these steps:
- Remove the side cover from the engine to expose the timing mark.
- Locate the timing mark on the rotor, which is a small line or notch on the outer edge of the rotor.
- Use a timing light to align the timing mark on the rotor with the "T" mark on the stator.
- Loosen the bolts that secure the stator plate in place.
- Adjust the position of the stator plate until the timing mark on the rotor is aligned with the "T" mark on the stator.
- Tighten the bolts that secure the stator plate in place.
- Reattach the side cover to the engine.
It's important to consult the Fz400r's service manual for detailed instructions on setting the timing mark and to ensure proper timing of the engine.

Loss of power, stalling, backfiring
Sounds like you are not getting fire to that cylinder, check plug wire, plug, and the cap on the end of the plug wire.
If all is well with those, just let me know and we can go to the next possible cause.
My 2008 Yamaha V star mill turnover when I tried to start it but will not fire up. Why and I don't think I'm getting spark to my coil packs.
A motorcycle that turns over but doesn't start can be caused by a few different things. Some possible causes of the issue you are experiencing with your 2008 Yamaha V Star include:
- Fuel supply problem: If the fuel pump is not working properly or the fuel filter is clogged, it can prevent fuel from reaching the engine.
- Ignition system problem: If there is no spark at the coil packs, it could be due to a malfunctioning ignition module, a bad spark plug, or a problem with the ignition coil.
- Mechanical issue: If the engine is not getting compression, it could be due to a valve problem, a broken timing chain, or a seized piston.
- Electrical issue: If the engine is not getting power, it could be due to a dead battery, a corroded connection, or a problem with the starter.
It's best to check the battery and all the electrical connections first, also check if the spark plugs are fouled or damaged, if so change them

2007 Yamaha MT-03 660cc Fuel Consumption?
Question edited for clarity and MAKER!
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to model category.
Stated fuel consumption figures by the maker are seldom correct. You are driving in traffic and even changing gears! Figures are often given driving on the highway in top gear at 50 mph for 50 miles. When they say mixed driving, that is 5 miles to get to the highway and 45 miles on the highway. As long as the bike is running right, your tyres are at the right pressure, your brakes aren't binding and your spark plugs are a nice honey colour and not Black, fuel consumption is what it is. If you are 300 pounds, that will reduce consumption really badly.

Water leak/mixing with oil
change the seal behind the water pump impeller
the shifter shaft seal will stop leaking
if it continues to mix water and oil you will have to change the head gasket
