That's not engine oil in that "reserve" box. That's where you put the 2 cycle oil. The bike automatically mixes 2 cycle oil with your fuel. Just put regular fuel into the tank, and 10w 30 into the engine fill port on the motor and put 2 cycle oil into the tank under the seat.

How to drain engine crankcase oil 2004 1200 sportster

Run the bike to get it to normal operating temperature. Put an thin oil pan on the ground under the center of the engine. Look for the little rubber hose coming from the bottom of the bike with a plastic plug in it and held in the hose with a clamp. Loosen the clamp and save to reuse if it is the screw type. Then pull the plug out and open up the oil fill cap on right side by the seat.

I just bought a 1998 yamaha blaster atv. How much and what kind of oil goes in the gearbox? (the guy i got it from said use plain old 10w-30 oil) Does it use heavy weight gear oil? Transmission fluid?...

Use heavy duty SAE 80W-90 gear oil

Engine oil does work but the oil will not last as long nor will it protect the bearing's/gear's as well as gear oil. Thick dif oil can work to.
Also the gear box is should be sealed.

What happens if you put too much oil when you do an oil change in a Vstar Silverado?

You might pop a seal , tear a gasket, or fill your air box with oil fowling a perfectly good air filter. Place a clean pan under the drain plug and without completely removing the plug bleed out enough oil to get the correct level in the bike. Then, save the oil for topping up or your next change.

Where does the oil come out of a 2004 Yamaha 1100 VStar Classic

Oil drain plug is located near the bottom of the engine, left side toward the front. The oil filter element is located on the right side of the engine under the cover toward the front. Changing the oil filter usually requires removal of the front exhaust pipe. There is an aftermarket filter relocation kit that replaces the filter element with a spin on filter that mounts on the front of the bike.

Crawl under the car and remove the front and rear splash covers under the engine. The forward panel is held by 6 studs (2 shared with the rear panel) and this has to come off first. The rear panel is held by another 4 studs, and the sump drain plug is concealed by this panel.
