If it's a 2-stroke where you mix gas & oil or has a separate oil tank under the seat that you fill to mix with the gas ... you don't change the oil. 2-stroke engines don't generally have oil in the crankcase, they're oiled with the fuel they run on (which is mixed with oil). What model ATV do you have?

Submerged atv will not shift

You most likely have a wet clutch. Do an oil change! Is it all murky and grey? You need to flush system thoroughly. Buy atleast 3 or 4 oil filters and grab some oil. Get it warm and change oil. Rinse and repeat 3 times. Take for short ride rinse and repeat till oil is clean. Most filters are washable so can be reused. Hope for the best. Mine has been swamped 4 times so far but runs like a champ. Either buy or make a snorkel kit and have fun

Oil amount in XJR400

When you changed the oil filter. YOu need to add .4 more liters when you removed the oil filter. This applies to the Yamaha XJR400
Details:

2.0 liters when oil filter not removed.
2.4 liters when oil filter removed or changed.
