Your carbs are dirty. and probably need to be balanced also... bring the bike bto a garage and have them cleaned by a profesional.... also after market pipes don't give your bike the proper back pressure .. that can mess up your carbs timing

After start it backfires, sputters then runs

Hi,when starting bike you put the chock on,remeber this is to make a richer mixture for cold start,so when you start the bike put put the choke off a little bit as it warms up,other wise wat you are doing is couseing it to floud,so again as the bike warms up put the choke off little bit at a time, all the best.

Hesitates and backfires through the exaust when accelerating

Sounds as if your timing is not quite right. You need a manual, but The best I can offer is a 98: http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp , it may help, but if you only have 1100 miles on it, I would be taking it to a qualified mechanic to be fixed. Up to you.

Bike missing and backfiring... put new plugs in 2001 ace 750

I'm trying to think away the possibility of a burt vave. Have you run the valve adjustment? Carb adjustment is very critical, Too lean will cause backfiring or stumbling and too rich will cause deccel popping at the exhaust. One other thing, Vacuum leaks screw everything up so it wouldn't hurt to ck all the vacuum lines make sure of no cracks or loose fits. Safly, you may need to just run it out and hope for it to clear up.Make sure the plug wires are not laying on anything. Take some electrical spray cleaner and rinse og the top of the coilnd the plug wire. I'll keep thinking on this and if I stumble on anything I'll you know. Ned

Motorbikes backfires, and is irratic with accelration.

Nice bike and an annoying issue. Backfire is unburnt fuel that then detonates.

Hopefully, it's just a plug going bad. Pull the plugs and see which one is black/wet. That will be the tell tale sign which cylinder is acting up.

I'd replace all, set the proper gap and install them and take it for a test drive.

Good luck hope this is a simple fix.

Car stumbles, backfires until warm

You need to replace your distributor. There has been many problems with these. I had the same problem with my 1993 villager and had tried many different things and none worked. I went to a junk yard and got a used distributor and now it runs fine. I would try this before anything alse.
