I always add about 10% oil to my small engines to help protect them from friction. If it starts ok with that much oil, it might smoke a bit and cause a little carbon build up on the plugs or valves, but most engines after 1980 are high enough heat and compression ratio to clean themselves up.
Sometimes the oil doesn't blend in all the way without some sloshing around.
Every 2 stroke I've ever worked on, the float is set parallel to the bottom of the carburetor. Turn the carb upside down and look to see if the float is even with the bottom of the carb.
same as a car engine
150-165 psi with a variation of no more than 10% between cylinders
contact a service center and ask them for the compression pressure and how to do the test

Engines for 1989 Larson boat with dual 115 Yamaha 4 StrokeEngines. ... Outboard Yamaha 150 HP DIRTY idle JETS, Motor will not idle .
Did you get any instructions from the previous owner? If it's a 4 stroke waverunner there will be a dipstick on the engine block, but I'm guessing it's probably a 2 stroke engine because most watercraft used 2 stroke motors clear through the 1990's. The oil will be mixed with the gasoline when you fill it, bottles of 2 stroke oil can be purchased at most stores that carry oil. Your waverunner can be mixed at 50:1, which equals out to be 2.6 oz of oil per gallon of gasoline. On a 2 stroke engine the engine gets lubrication from the oil mixed with fuel and will burn up fast if straight gasoline is used. Let me know if you have any troubles, but try to get ahold of the previous owner to get some more info.

Do you mix oil into the gas?? Is there a place to check the oil (a dip stick). Is there a special place to put 2 cycle oil for a self mixer?
If you don't mix the gas with oil and there is no special place to put 2 cycle oil, you have a 4 cycle engine.
If there is a place on the side to check the oil level, you have a 4 cycle engine.
Next question will be ... how do I check the transmission oil? If you have a 4 cycle engine, the engine oil is also the transmission oil ... rule of thumb.
You are showing a picture of a motorcycle and asking a question about a ATV, but not mentioning a model number. I don't think Yamaha is currently making a 2 stroke engine for their ATV's (there are several sizes - not including assorted models for sale around the world ... and I don't know where you are writing from (and please don't say).
Maybe the best thing for you to do is call the Yamaha dealer on Monday morning and tell them the model you have and ask the question 2 stroke or 4 stroke. There will be no more guessing on your part then.
It was the phase between 1990-1995, when Yahama lost to Hero Honda, as v know, Yahama was an expert in 2-stroke engine bikes, as v know 2-stroke engine will yield higher power but NO good mileage, n emit more smoke.
so...GOV OF INDIA phased out all production of 2 stoke engines in the country, so yamaha had to stop the production of Yamaha RX n RD series in INDIA.
N constantly rising fuel prize, utilizing this need form d public Hero Honda's CD 100 hit the market, with 4 stroke engine n heavily improved mileage.
hence Hero honda won the race...
Although Yamaha came up with some 4 stroke models, but those didnt click it for them, but now its again yamaha's time !!
with introuduction of Yamaha R15, FZR , really yamaha is back with a bang !!
thank u so much..!!
