maybe a leak in the draw pipe inside the tank. Check fuel pressure at the rail. If low, repair pump assembly.

It probable is out of gas these GM vehicles are famous for bad fuel sending units. So if i were you i would replace the whole fuel pump assembly the sending unit comes with it,that you won't have to pull the fuel tank again because of fuel pressure problems later on.

If the vehocle won't crank over the problem is not a lack of fuel. If, however it cranks but is not getting fuel I would sart by replacing the fuel filter.

Check your fuel filter if it needs replacement. Empty it out then connect it back. Try to start it again. Inspect the fuel filter if it filled with gasoline. Check if there is noise at the fuel tank to check if the pump is working. If it did not, inspect the fuse for your fuel pump and the relay. If both are good you may connect the fuel pump directly to the battery to see if it works. It may be a bad wiring.

Truck dies, acts like it is getting to much fuel, used a quarter tank of gas in 8 miles

Clogged Gas Filter

Worn out & Blocked Exhaust Converter

Bad Ground at Fuel Pump

The different gas gauge readings would indicate a ground
issue with the sending unit in the fuel tank & possibly the
fuel pump shares the same ground or it is worn out.

I would check fuel pressure with a gauge & the fuel may be
there, but not enough volume

A fuel pump can last 4 years or 18 years

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.

My fuel gage says that im at a quarter tank but im actually on empty is there a sensor in the gas tank or do i need a new fuel gage

95% of the time it is your fuel level sensor in the tank. You will need to drop the tank to remove the sender to access. If you go to gm they make just the sensor for the sending unit.

Why is my fuel gauge on my 2000 chevy tahoe moving

I think so too. May be sulfur from the fuel on the resister card that the wiper travels over. Try adding some Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner to 1/4 tank of gas and see if it gets better.

2004 mazda 6 with 3.0l V6..WHen the gas guage falls below a quarter tank the car shutters really bad getting on and off the interstate. Almost as if no gas is getting pushed to the engine. Dealer ship said...

Find out how many gallons your fuel tank holds. Once it falls below a 1/4 tank and starts to shutter. Proceed to the nearest gas station and fill up. If you fill it up with 12 gallons and your tank holds 12 gallons then your fuel gauge is off. So it should be reading empty instead a 1/4 tank.
