It probable is out of gas these GM vehicles are famous for bad fuel sending units. So if i were you i would replace the whole fuel pump assembly the sending unit comes with it,that you won't have to pull the fuel tank again because of fuel pressure problems later on.
If the vehocle won't crank over the problem is not a lack of fuel. If, however it cranks but is not getting fuel I would sart by replacing the fuel filter.
Check your fuel filter if it needs replacement. Empty it out then connect it back. Try to start it again. Inspect the fuel filter if it filled with gasoline. Check if there is noise at the fuel tank to check if the pump is working. If it did not, inspect the fuse for your fuel pump and the relay. If both are good you may connect the fuel pump directly to the battery to see if it works. It may be a bad wiring.

maybe a leak in the draw pipe inside the tank. Check fuel pressure at the rail. If low, repair pump assembly.
Do you mean it won't crank or it won't start?
