Question about 1992 Cadillac DeVille
Not knowing what car it is ... a place to start is the vacuum fuel pressure regulator. Have someone hold the gas pedal and keep it at about 2500 rpm and look for leaks. Won't hurt to check the fuel pump pressure too.

Sounds like you have a either a vacuum leak or a cracked fuel line allowing extra air to be sucked into the carb fuel mixture. Make sure all small to medium sized hoses are well attached to their fittings and do not have any cracks in them.

Have you tried checking your throttle positioning sensor. Possible vacuum leak or check for carbon build up in the throttle body not letting the throttle valve shut all the way.

This is not a rich mans car so its normal. Your hearing the solinod that lets you take the car out of park after the brake is depressed so the car can't be put in gear unless the brake is on. If the noise bothers you the soliniod can be found and wrapped in insulation like a rich mans car them you can ride on feeling like a rich man too. ( the Beatles sang that a long time ago) and its still true today.
