1997 Malibu 3L V6 Suddenly hard to start Suddenly hard to start

1997 Malibu 3L V6 Suddenly hard to start. 101k miles. Lightly driven. Starts OK. Sluggish when cold. Very hard to start when hot. Let engine cool one hour or so, and it starts just fine. Any ideas?

The engine only warms up to normal temp. the car runs good its only after I stop and turn the car off and come back to start it again that the starting problem starts. And not allways but most of the time.

the car was running fine then suddenly stopped running while at a traffic light. The engine turns over like it wants to fire but nothing. the car was filled 4 days ago and driven 130 miles.

Could you give more detail as to what it's doing exactly? Is it having a hard time cranking the engine or does the engine crank but not want to get started?

I have just replaced the pass side exhaust gasket, I check the ecm and get 55 code. After the engine cools down it starts no problem, it runs good when I shut down the engine I come out a few min's later and it wont start. turns over fine backfires through the air filter some times.

Truck surges (Vibrates hard) under load when warm.

I would start by changing the trans filter and fluid, and go from there . it could be your overdrive acting up try to drive it in 3 and see if it happens, how many miles are on it ? and sometimes you can lightly apply brake and get o.d. to kick out not sure on yours if that works or not, because if you can get it to kick out then you can diagnoise if it is the culprit ! sounds like it though, at Car Quest Auto they sell additive that is supposed to take care of shuddering in o.d. but can't remember the name of it ...sorry

this is most likely a fuel vapor issue.

fuel boils in the fuel rail causing a hard start after a 'hot soak'.

the fix is to replace the fuel pressure regulator and the pcm. good- day !!

What is the drive cycle or vehicle break in for 1999 Malibu

the monitors should have set by now. usually its around 50 miles. and a couple cold starts. i would have the computer scanned if the monitors have not set and youve driven quite abit more than this. we change batteries all the time and usually have all the monitors set in a couple hours.
