Of coarse there are all kinds of oils
that don't belong in your vehicle & could
do harm over time,I think you knew that
when you asked the question

I would say 5W-30 would be a good guess

We are 30 years removed from 1983 & the
oil technology of that era

The car takes 5w-30 semi synthetic oil. However, if you have never put synthetic oil in the car I would recommend using regular oil. I would also advise you check with your local jaguar dealer. The reason for this is if your car is not use to that kind of oil from day one it could cause seal leaks.

Use NGK plugs. And oil should be precicely what the manufactures reccomends, listed on the oil fill cap. When the vehicle starts to use some oil, consider high mileage blend, again at the SAME viscocity, NOT HEAVIER EVER. The high mileage does reduce consumption and with Casteroil you get semi synthetic...

On both my 90 and 92, I use and the recommended oil is a 20w50 multigrade oil. I have tried synthetics and they thin out and low pressure readings occur when running in hot weather. The normal range readings return with the regular multigrade oil.

Should use 5w30 semi-synthetic

Dexron 3 is what is now used to replace Jaguar Tranny Oils
