1997 Chevrolet Silverado Fuel System

The truck won't start.
Changed the Fuel Pump, Changed the Fuel Filter, Changed the relay under the hood. Is there one under the dash maybe? or a sensor I am missing?

Will crank and crank all day... Still nothing.

Hi all, I have a 2001 Audi A4 2.8, it starts and drive fine for about 30 minutes then it will stall for no reason and you have to let it sit for about 30 minutes, then it starts right back up. I have changed the fuel filter, fuel pump, speed sensor and the problem still exist. I did watch a video that showed the fuel pump relay as being labeled with the number 382 as being the right one. However, when I look under my dash all the other relay are there but the slot where the video showed the fuel pump relay is enpty. Could this be the problem or could someone have bypassed it all together. Not sure if the car will run wth it missing. Please help!!!! Kevin and thanks in advance

Hello Johnholley
I am wondering do you hear the fuel pump when you just turn the key into the on run position not crank just in run and listen and see if you hear the fuel pump run for a second, If you don't hear it you will want to check for power at the fuel tank, and have some one cycle the key while your under the truck with a test light. Hopefully you have power and you hear the fuel pump run. Now if you do hear the fuel pump running then the next thing you will want to check is for spark, It could be the ignition module or pickup coil. check out those thing and I am sure you will be able to figure out whats going on. If you don't get back to me and we can try a few other methods. I sure hope that helps you out johnholley. and thanks for using Fix Ya Bear001

I have the same problem. Fuel pump is working with good pressure, it have spark and the fuel injectors are working. The problem is engine will crank but it won't start; but if you introduce starting fluid throw the intake the engine will start and it won't turn off until you close the ignition switch (in other words you can drive all day the problem is to start). I change fuel pump, crankshaft position sensor, air flow meter, fuel pressure regulator and all intake gaskets. PLEASE HELP

My step brother had a 1999 Chevy silverado that did the same thing. He tried everything and the solution was simple...it was a fuse under the Hood in the fuse box. Replaced it and it started right up. Only spent like 2 dollars. Contact me if this works [email protected].

Maybe the antitheft system turning off the fuel injectors. This is a notorious GM problem.

I dont have power to my fuel pump. any idea? i have changed the pump, fuel filter, and checked all the fuses under the hood.

Have you checked the fuel pump relay? usually located near the fuse box.
All power leads installed correctly after pump replaced?

93 chevrolet silverado will not start fuel to throttle body can spray fuel in to it and it will start then dies (runs out of the fuel sprayed in)

Check for a dirty fuel filter, or it's a fuel pump relay/pump. If it has never had a fuel pump changed on it, it will say AC DELCO on the filter. The fuel filter is located under drivers side door along the frame. Fairly easy to change, and if this doesn't fix the problem, then it is the fuel pump relay/fuel pump. *Hint... it is easier to remove the bed of the truck than to drop the tank out. From experience it is much faster and easier to access.

Let me know,

FUEL PUMP FOR CHEVY SILVERADO

fuel filter? how about power to the fuel pump, loose ground wire to chasis? wiring harness? terminals clean at point of connection?did you check the fuel pump relay? Relay is located in electrical center under the hood on the driver side.relay and fuse legend will be on bottom side of cover, you sould be able to switch with another relay that you know works, ie: switch horn relay with fuel pump relay, honk horn to insure both relays are working when either relay is inserted into horn slot. Do you by chance have the electrical schematic drawing for the fuel pump?
