In my 2008 Cobalt, the front speaker in the driver door went inoperative - no turn signal noise, no warning chimes for door open with key in, seatbelt chime, low fuel chime, and of course, no music. All of those sounds come through the speaker. I switched the driver door speaker and the passenger door speaker, and now I have all of those noises back.

If you have manual roll down windows, you'll have to buy a special tool to remove a little clip that's behind the roller handle. This tool was included in a kit for about $7 that I bought at Harbor Frieght, but you might be able to find the kit at other auto parts stores. Google "removing window crank" and you should be able to locate a video that shows how to get it off.

Anyway, I switched the speakers and now we just don't have music coming out of the passenger door speaker, but at least we have all of the warning chimes and turn signal clicking noise again.

The dealer wanted almost $200 for a new speaker and to replace it (labor). Rediculous.

I have the exact same problem, THey both go out at the same time and they look at me like im crazy when i went to the dealership and told them about it.

I have a 2007 Cobalt and the exact same thing happened, both front speakers went out as well as the audible click for the turn signals. The repair shops want $110 just to DIAGNOSE the problem...I already checked all the fuses and they are fine. Is it likely that Im going to have to replace both speakers??

The turn signal clicking noise and the chimes (key in ignition with door open, seltbelt warning, lights on, low fuel, etc.) all come out of the driver's speaker, along with music from the radio. If you can hear music coming out of the passenger door speaker, then switch the speakers.

I'm not sure if a normal speaker from the auto parts store will work - at least that's what Chev wants you think. I'm sure you'd rather have both speakers working, but in a pinch you would defenitely prefer it if the driver's speaker worked so you can still listen to the sound system and hear the turn signal.

Even if you think both speakers are out, I would go ahead and try switching them first before doing anything else. It really is too easy to do, and cheap. And you might even get it working.

If not, try speakers from a wrecking yard from a crashed Cobalt. I hate the idea of having to shell out a rediculous amount of money from Chevy. I mean come on - how much money does it actually cost Chevy before they mark it up? And how long is that brand new Chevy speaker going to hold out before it does the same thing as the original?

In the original post, I mentioned the tool kit and the video. It really is easy.

I have the exact same problem with my 2007 Cobalt LT. I went through the fuses and they are also OK. Is this a common equipment failure in this model?

Yes it is a common problem. I replaced my radio and both speakers as the radio buttons also started to go bad.https://www.crutchfield.com Works great now.

I am getting ready to replace the drivers door speaker in my daughter's 2008 Colbalt. The replacement speaker from Chevy was $25. She has power windows. Is there any tricks to removing the door panel? I don,t want to brake anything.

Sounds like you need to check the fuse in the fuse box or check the wire harness going to the radio, Maybe it has come unplugged.

I replaced both speakers (Well, i didnt; the professional audio people did) and it did nothing. Also, my electric door lock buttons stopped working (maybe thats an entirely different issue) but does anyone else have a fix thats worked? Id like to listen to the music through my two new front speakers.

How do I disable seat belt chime in 2003 GMC Yukon it goes off while driving non stop. Please include pictures

There is no dinger as the other guy suggests . sound comes from the driver door speaker .
The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The radio generates the audible warnings through the left front speaker. The radio receives audible warning requests via the class 2 serial data line. If the radio receives multiple audible warning requests, the warning with the highest priority sounds first. On vehicles with an audio amplifier, the amplifier instead of the radio generates the audible warnings and receives audible warnings requests via the class 2 serial data line. Either the radio or the audio amplifier is the chime producer. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:
Fast rate chime (150 pulses per min)
Medium rate chime (100 pulses per min)
Slow rate chime (50 pulses per min)
Turn signal reminder (will pulse at turn signal flasher rate)

Your best bet ,wear your seatbelt . so the sound goes off . If you do wear the seat belt and the chime sounds ,have a qualified repair shop check it .

Where is the 4 way's flasher located in a 2008 Chevy Cobalt?

The Chevy cobalt does not have a flasher relay, the cobalt turn signals are fully solid state and run through the PCM (powertrain control module) in the car, the sound comes from your speaker in the front left

No audible sounds on turn signals, turn lights on, key left in ignition or seat belts

just had this happen to me awhile ago it was the left speaker once the left speaker goes out so do your sounds... just had a speaker put in it worked for awhile now I am having the same issue ...I started having trouble with the driver side door where it won't close I think it is a big problem in cobalts if you try to close it it will not close then try it again then it closes that might have something to do with the speaker going out again in my car... but listen to your speakers my solution is to check your left speaker that might be your culprit......hope this helps

Speaker problem

the only way to check this is to pull you factory radio out and check the connections on the back side you should have 2 black clips that plug into the radio if those are loose it will short out from time ti time and not work when you put your turn signals on
