Check your kick down cable attached to the carb, it may be out of adjustment and forcing the trans to stay in "passing gear"

My transmission in my 1996 Chevy 4x4 k2500 jerks real.bad when shifting into 2nd gear and as the engine heats up it won't shift at all?????PLEASE HELP!!!!

Automatic or standard transmision. If it is a automatic check the dip stick and see if the oil is red or black, and if it smells burnt or not. If it is black and smells burnt, you need to overhaul your transmission, which is not unlikell for a 4x4. If it is a std you are still on the verge of needing a new clutch.

it's under the vehicle, should ge on the passengers' side, next to the oil pan. If you follow the positive battery cable, it'll lead you right to it.

My 1997 chevy blazer does not have a 4wheel drive switch

If there is no switch present then it is full time 4X4, it does not disengage, good for travel bad for fuel mileage.
