Oil in the air cleaner usually means a faulty PCV system. Some of the older Ford engines have a filter screen in the rear of the engine block where the PCV hose attaches. The filters get clogged with catbon and must be replaced. This can also cause severe oil leakage from your valve covers because the excessive crankcase pressure will blow out your valve cover gaskets.
The "no start" problem is likely a seperate problem which will have to be diagnosed.

have you changed the spark plugs or cleaned with heat i would change them with new if you can afford it and be 4 putting them in i would crank engine over a few times then take a comparison reading ..if u cant do a reading then i would put several drops of oil in each cylinder put new spark plugs in and try again O when cranking over hold gas pedal all the way down and yes temp sensor can fluid if bad
If youre looking at the engine, the oil filter is on the right side of the engine, you have to get to it from the bottom of the van. The battery im not too sure off the top of my head, it should be on the right side as well, possibly tucked away in the back corner.
