I misplaced my keys and had AAA unlock it with a slim jim. I think this broke my manual door lock. Do I need clip a clip or a retainer or something to replace?

A lot of newer cars can't be opened with a slim jim anymore. A good kit uses a small bag that inflates with air to allow a long rod to unlock (electric door locks) These work much better.
They probably released the cable from it's catch mechanism and fell in the window cavity. Need to peel off the door panel to reveal the locking system, reconnect the cable that fell off. This happens when a slim-jim is used, pulling the cable upwards simulating the pull action when you operate the door release.
you need a slim jim to open it with the lock assembly or rod has come off or the plastic keepr had broke off. only licenced mechanics would have one if yo have AAA auto tow ask them to unlock it for free once it's unlocked you will have to pull the door cover off and see if it's the rod or the clamp that holds the rod in place. Hope this helps.
call onstar!!! just kidding no! the only way now is to use a slim jim(door opening tool) most auto parts sell them for 5 dollars or so unless you have AAA auto club card or know a member they will come out and do it for free sometimes police officers can also help you. hope this helps you.
your going to have to use a coat hanger, use somthing to wedge the door open a little then snake hanger in to try and hit power lock button or push the unlock lever, you will have to bend hanger to right angle. or you could call AAA they will send someone but it would cost you if you dont have AAA, good luck hope this helps.
a slim jim is not a good ideal to be using in todays cars and trucks with airbags everywhere and wires inside doors..call a pro and if he pulls out a slim jim send him packin...there a re far better tools to use than a slim jim
