Assumining it is a 4.0 litre engine which is common to ford explorers the #306 dtc is a cylinder #6 misfire.proabable causes are faulty spark plug, faulty plg wire, faulty coil pack tower,,or faulty fuel injector, thats the simple one, also it could be caused by low engine compression, burnt valve, out of time, and on and on,,if the simple things do not solve your problem i highly suggest you talk to a certified mechanic about the more serious problems.
P0306 - Cylinder miss fire, 6 cylinder only has one coil pack, with engine running remove one spark plug wire from coil pack at a time, to check for spark, if you have spark at all, coil o.k, if no spark at any one replace coil pack, check for spark at other end of spark plug wire at spark plug end, which ever wire you don't have spark , replace wire's, if you do have spark at all wire's check injector for clicking sound, if o.k, do a cylinder compression test. 8 cylinder has two coil pack's do same test as above.Hope this was very helpful.
That is a misfire on #6 cylinder most likely cause is spark plug or wire. could be more but a simple tune up should fix you up Thanks Tim
It sounds like a misfire. Check spark plugs 5 and 6. It could be bad fuel, bad plug wire, or weak coil. Check the fuel injectors as well. Other possible causes could be an egr valve stuck open, vacuum leaks, low fuel pressure.
