There is a 5th injector called the cold start injector, that is electrically controlled off the starter. You can easily unscrew it while still attached to hoses and wires, and watch it squirt. You can also verify it is getting voltage with a test light or meter. There is also a thermal timer for it that could be bad and preventing current from the starter.
Remove the cover, once you do you'll see the fuel injectors ( noticable via metal fuel lines) underneath the injector's youll see a black harness with 4 plugs, pull each plug one by one and remove the old glow plugs and replace with new ones. the glow plugs go bad after so many cold starts and burn up if the key is left in the "on" position and the car not running
Volkswagen 2002 Jetta TDI do not have any 5th injector !!!
It is a Diesel engine, not a petrol engine.
Your TDI's engine is equiped with one glow plug for each cylinder !
You must check up every glow plug and replace cracked pieces. This is the cause of difficult cold weather engine start !!!
