12 volt power outlet is not functioning.

When I was trying to remove my Belkin TuneBase FM from my 12 volt power outlet (the one directly under the HVAC fan speed control, which usually houses the cigarette lighter) on my 2001 Toyota Camry LE, the friction washer pulled the socket out about an inch. Since then, the outlet has not functioned at all. The light around it still illuminate, however the outlet doesnt work. I don't think the problem is a blown fuse, as the other outlet still works. Suggestions?

Check for voltage with test light suspect that wire at back of outlet pulled off

Testimonial: "Yeah, that was the issue. I had to pull off the black plastic faceplate that borders the radio and HVAC control unit (it's held in with metal clips bent into a triangular shape, made to provide a bit of resistance, but they pop in and out with no damage) to get to it. Thanks for the quick response, sorry about the late reply. Thanks again!"

Add 12 volt outlet switched by ignition

Look in your owners manual for the accessory fuse. That line turns off. Also, consider a 12 volt relay between the seat and your power source. A small toggle switch will work well for a relay.

I am having a problem with my 12 volt power outlets. Ever since I used an iPod FM transmitter in both of my outlets, neither outlet works for any accessory that I plug in. The fuse was blown, I replaced...

I think you need to look inside of the sockets for foreign objects such as change or foil from gum wrappers. This is the most common cause of this problem. If it is all clear we need to unplug both and put in a new fuse, plug in one and then the other, see which one is the bad socket.

it could be the the starter solenoid or starter itself that is the problem.you said it started when you started using your fm transmitter have you tried not using it to see if it starts working correctly for a few days.if it works normally then this is the problem.try another outlet if you have one to see if the problem starts again.

12 volt Power outlet in Chrysler Mini Van does not work

im sure of a fuse somewere and its probably a large one.
if the unit shorts it has to have a fuse first thing.
you may find a fuse under the hood in the fuse box.
and then you may find a fuse in the unit itself .
the other thing is to remove it and connect it to another car battery.
if you have a bad unit then a salvage yard in your area should have one.
also test the power in your car going to the unit.if its set to run all the time then theres a fuse at the battery or the fuse box.
one other thing is check for recalls
you may get lucky.

hope this helps

1996 Cavalier 12 Volt power outlet in car doesn't work right?

Even thought the plug in is 12 volt. It's ouput is different. Most electronics have different ranges from 3-9 volts.
Does the 12 volt charger put out 12 volts? If so, it would burn up the electronics' capacitors on their power supplies.
How is the car's electronics doing? Are they too failing? If so, that would be a faulty voltage regulator, if not, I would hook up anything you use to the radio wires.
You cannot plug in anything directly to battery no matter what the person told you. Batteries charge, than release charge, a contiuous cycle. The power output is speratic and anything hooked straight up to the battery will need a fuse.
