Hi , to reset the service light you will need to insert the key and turn the ignition lights on but do not start the engine. you will see a push button on the lower left side of the instrument panel press and hold this until you have a triangle appear which then turns to the brake warning symbol , release the push button then press and hold the bc button in the indicator arm until reset appears , release and again press and hold the bc button until you have a moving clock symbol appear , release the bc button and wait for the display to change , once this has reset turn off the ignition and the service symbol should have reset . you may want to print these instructions before resetting , regards Mark.
What is this bc button
the bc button is the push button on the end of the indicator lever , regards mark
When I tried to reset the service light on my 2006 325i BMW I had to use a slightly different routine. Insert the key and start the engine. After the service light goes out press the trip odometer reset button (the push button on the lower left side of the instrument panel) and hold it till you have a triangle appear which turns to s symbol of the service problem. (Several symbols are possible). Release the button and press the bc button in the indicator arm. The indicator will show a month and year for the next service interval. Use the up/down switch on the indicator arm to change the month. Press the b/c button to move to the year. Again use the up/down switch on the indicator arm to change the year. Press the b/c button again to save the new date. The indicator will show "reset". YOu can turn off the engine. When you restart the engine the service light will be normal now.
Thank you for this advise. I followed what you instructed by turning on the engine. it worked like a charm. I was wondering if I was truly service reset disabled. thanks again.
