Do you still have fuel pump pressure? Is there fuel getting to the cylinders? If all the fuses are good, then replace the crankshaft sensor.

More than likely it is the componets under the distributor cap that are at fault. Were there many attempts to start truck when fuel pump had failed ? if so , that would be the relation

Fuel pressure and spark are 2 different things. one thing that can cause no spark is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. but i tneeds to be tested and confirmed before replacing it, I dont want you changing parts on a guess, it gets expensive,

1997 GMC Sierra 5.7 Vortec, pickup died last night and there is power to the fuel pump, have only 15 psi on the rail and a new oem pump was installed less than 3 yrs ago. Getting fire and was wondering...

A fuel filter won't clog completely in 3 years
and won't get you down to 15# if it did

What is fire?

Voltage to pump or ignition spark?

What about pressure regulator?

I have a 1997 GMC Sierra. The engine is a 5.7 vortex. Is there a fuel filter in the carburator?

This year does not have a carburator,it is fuel injected. The filter is on the inner frame rail on the left side.Make sure and relieve the fuel pressure before removing the filter or it will spray fuel all over. You can do this by removing the fuel pump fuse or relay and start the vehicle and let it run tilit dies. Then turn off the key and replace the filter. You will still get some fuel coming out but it won`t be pressurized.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1997 GMC Sierra 5.7 Vortec, replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, spider injector. Still not getting fuel past the spider. fuel pressure is 10 psi! What could be wrong

10psi is, as I'm sure you know, about 48psi short of what you need to get it running. Did you verify you're getting a full 12 volts at the fuel pump connector? Check the ground wire also, ohm it out to chassis ground, shouldn't be more then a few ohms. Verify it's making a good connection and the terminals are clean and tight. High resistance in the wiring or a connector in the circuit could cause the fuel pump to not output the right amount of pressure.
Did you replace the fuel pump with an aftermarket unit or an oem part?

I have a 1997 Gmc Sierra 5.7 4x4. It has no spark. I replaced the coil and ign module today but still no spark. Tech suggested Crank shaft sensor? Truck was running then died going down road. (30kms after...

It could be the CPS, but as you now know throwing parts at a repair is costly and sometimes it does not fix anything. A code scanner should be able to tell you if the sensor is bad. If the CPS goes bad you will have no spark.

When this truck dies, does it have spark,or fuel pressure?Check it for no spark,if it has no spark, replace the ignition module. These gm year models are bad to go out ,and the distributor pick up coil also.Replace the module first,if this does not help, replace the pick up coil.NOW ON A FUEL RELATED PROBLEMit could be fuel pump, fuel pump relay,or the pick up coil. The pick up coil pulses the injectors, and the spark.I hope this helps,if not let me know.

1997 gmc sierra shuts off while driving

Had same problem with a Yukon. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump (Won't show codes.) When cold ran fine, heated up, no pressure. Would start after sitting for about 1/2 hour. When engine dies on you check for fuel pressure under the hood.
