2009 Hyundai Sonata-clicking noise is heard (inside the car), when the brake pedal is applied. Clicking noise is coming from brake pedal area
This is not a rich mans car so its normal. Your hearing the solinod that lets you take the car out of park after the brake is depressed so the car can't be put in gear unless the brake is on. If the noise bothers you the soliniod can be found and wrapped in insulation like a rich mans car them you can ride on feeling like a rich man too. ( the Beatles sang that a long time ago) and its still true today.
Testimonial: "Thanks. Dealer hasn't been helpful. I'll see how far I can go before I run out of patiencs."
Yes but some of the soliods make noise and others are much better. A mechanic can look at the car find the clicking part lube it insulaste it or change it to correct the problem, Even though the warrentee may not cover a car that has no outward function problem just a worrison sound.
Seens like a car this new should be worked on by the dealer for free. But the steering collum has covers on it and the lower dash does too. This year model is newer than the ones I've worked on and so the phillips screws could be something else. Like tamperproof torx20, But you'll have to look and see, once uncovered cycle the brake with the key on till your hand finds the peice that clicks and look for the place that the linkage or cable goes in chain lube works good but be careful not to get it on anything that you can touch after it's put back together. It's hard to remove. use lots of paper towels and practice with the lube away from the car. Cycle it while spraying it shown change sounds if you get it right. the other end of the cable may have to be found and it lubed as well. Steering collum repairs are the most likly repairs to be done badly and the service manager usally picks the mechanics that they'll allow to do this work. Have a pro do it ewven if you have to pay em.

I've driven a new Sonata, same model and it doesn't make any type of noise when I apply the brakes.
I've also driven many inexpensive cars and I've never heard this type of noise before.
Thanks. How do I gain access to lubricate the part?
