Possibly the ignition switch. Check the pink wire "B" at distributor... it should be battery voltage when ignition at RUN and START positions.

Can a fuel pump work intermittently or do they just die

It could be the pump, but most times its the relay. Easy enough to check the relay by swapping it with another or a new one.

My inside light, radio and lighter went out how do I fix it on 1992 GMC sierra

Check for a blown fuse. Replace fuse. If it blows the fuse right away, then you have something shorting out the circuit.

Fuse panel is probably located under the dash board, to the left of the steering column.

IF you're using the cigarette lighter as an actual lighter and not as a 12 volt plug for a phone charger, THEN I would suspect the heating element of the lighter itself.

Hope this helps.

Fire in the engine

I had a 1997 Chevy c1500 pickup and it did not fire. Turns out the ground wire from the battery was bad. Replaced it and runs fine now.

After getting my 95 GMC Sierra 1500 5.7L V-8 back from a failed emissions test I let their mechanic fix it( or pass smog) However, now when the truck is in park the rpm's are at 1200 about 300...

I had an 89 Chevy Silverado with a high idle problem, A lot of money later and a lawsuit against a repair shop that said they fixed it and they didn't caused early engine failure and they wind up paying for a new engine. Long story short, I found out the main cause was I had to replace the throttle body gasket because it was bad causing more air intake and the on board computer tried to compensate for the air by adding more fuel therefore, high idle. I hope this helped.

I have a 92 GMC K1500 I drove approx. 2 miles to deliver a package truck was running fine. shut it off approx 10 min. later would not crank. pulled off air breather was not getting fuel. thought fuel pump...

It can still be the fuel pump.the pump could be getting hot and not working. If u let it set for awhile and cool down it will start. You need to do a fuel pressure test it should read between 40 and 50 psi. Let it run for awhile and see if the pressure drops. If so I would replace the pump

if there is any corrosion between your battery cables and terminals you need to clean them real well i have a 1995 chevrolet silverado and i just delt with a similar starting problem there should be 2 cables attached to the positive (+) side pull the 2 cables apart and clean in between them real well the next cheapest thing woul be the starter the ignition switch is exspensive
