SOURCE: Cooling fans are running for a long time and still

If the fans are running long after the car is shut off, the fan relay is fused together. Unplug the cooling fan relay and get a new one. Don't drive it far without that relay though. Put it back in and drive to your supplier.

SOURCE: cooling fans run continuosly on 2001 alero

When the temp sensor fails, the computer will turn on the fan relay as a precaution to overheating.
Once you find the problem with the sensor you may also fix the fan problem.
If the check engine light is on you should also check the computer for trouble codes.

2006 Mazda 6, 3.0. Why do my engine fans run all the time after car is off. The temp hands stays half way always.

There are a few potential reasons why your engine fans may be running all the time after you turn off your 2006 Mazda 6:
  1. Coolant temperature sensor: The coolant temperature sensor may be malfunctioning and sending incorrect signals to the engine control module. As a result, the fans may run continuously to try and keep the engine cool.
  2. Faulty fan relay: The fan relay controls when the fans turn on and off. If the relay is faulty, it can cause the fans to run all the time.
  3. Failed Engine Control Module (ECM): The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the engine fans and if it fails it can cause the fans to run constantly.
  4. Leak in the cooling system: A leak in the cooling system can cause the engine to overheat, which can cause the fans to run all the time.
  5. Stuck fan clutch: A fan clutch that is stuck in the "on" position can cause the fans to run all the time.
It's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose the issue. They will be able to identify the specific cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs. It is also important to keep an eye on the temperature gauge, if it's showing a high temperature and the fans are running all the time, it's important to stop the car as soon as possible and have it checked by a professional to avoid further damage.

2010 GMC Sierra radiator fan loud and seems to run all the time 5.3 vortex

Deanna, check to see if your A/C is in the on position, this could cause fan to run a lot. If this is not the case, take truck in for diagnoses at a good shop, could be a faulty heat/fan sensor or sticking relay. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Would lack of an EATX Relay cause the Engine Cooling Fans to Fail to run?

Eatx is the transmission relay. Nothing to do with the fans. Fans quit working because of the fuse, relay, wiring, resistor, and sometimes the PCM.

Cooling fans won't kick on. Checked fuses.

I would recommend you not drive it if it is overheating. You can cause some very serious damage in a very short time. The cooling fans are controlled by relays. If the fuses are fine, I would check those next. The relays are controlled by the body control module. If you have a way to check it for codes (OBD II, I'm guessing) then you might try that next. If the relays are OK, you may have a wiring problem or the motors could be going bad. Have you checked your wiring harness and connectors for any signs of damage or melting? A bad ground connection could cause them to stop working.

Disconnecting a sensor - any sensor - is not the best approach to this kind of problem. It wouldn't make the fans run continually, anyway.

99 chevy Cooling fans wont come on Chevy Malibu ??? Can i wire them hot to come on ?

Yes, you could wire them to run anytime the ignition is on, but that is not a good idea. Have you checked the fuse? Have you checked to see if the fans actually work? Turn the A/C on and one fan should run continuously. Have you replaced the thermal relay for the cooling fan? You need to just find out why they do not work. Running them continuously is not a good idea. You want the engine to reach full operating temperature as soon as possible. And you do not want to be constantly cooling it down by running the fans all the time. This will cause poor fuel mileage.

The car is running hot..we went to change the thermostat, but discovered it didn't have one in the line. What could be causing it to run hot??

check electric fans to see if they are coming on. and also make sure there is enough anti freeze in system. if fans do not work proper, check the fan relay if relay is ok. then the problem is either a bad wire or the fans itself are bad. to check fans-- take wire connector off of fans, then run a wire from positive on battery to positive on fan, ground other wire if need be. if fans do not run then thats your problem.

Do both cooling fans run at the same time, or are they staged?

One cooling fan runs when the engine reaches a certain temp. The second cooling fan is designed to run when the a/c is turned on, providing more air flow throw radiator. However, it will cause no harm or damage if both fans run at the same time, with or without the a/c turned on.

Fans will not turn on therefore cause vehicle to overheat

cooling fan will not come on until about 230 degrees, if fans still do not work. check the fuses and relay. if ok then run a wire to fan from battery.on fan side connection, run a wire from battery positive to fan connection. run a wire from negative to ground connection.if fan will not come on it is either bad or the coolant temp, sensor is bad. because this sensor send info to pcm from various running conditions. it is very important that this sensor works. it can cause;
  • Extended crank time when the engine is cold
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Spark knock
  • Lack of engine power
  • Erratic and/or high idle
  • Engine cooling fan stays running all the time
  • Engine cooling fan fails to turn on
  • Engine overheating
