SOURCE: range rover 2003 transfer in neutral help please

hi, this is a long shot so dont give me negative if no joy.
on the p38 they suffer from a bad electronic selector.
now, i do not have a clue what gear box or transfer you have.
any way if you look at your transfer, beside where the prop comes out, is ther like a window wiper motor with 6 wires.
if so they get stuck, rust or dirt etc.
have you checked your fuses, alos i would add. again not sure on your model.
in the fuse box there is a blank fuse, when inserted it shifts it to neutral.
the dealers wont tell you where it is.
have you put any fuses in etc, i did this 5 year ago, a p38 was jump started, leads wrong way.
i got a call as the aa did not want to help anymore. aa had a hand full of fuses out, i stuck in were contacts were. after new ecu had no drive.
you are sure its not a gearbox fault, get back to me if not sure, i can tell you how to test this.

SOURCE: Range Rover 4.6 HSE. 97' 1. What does HSE

The HSE designation refers to a Sport Edition 'Rover, not a higher-priced premium edition.
Changing fuel grades can harm an engine that doesn't have computer controlled valve timing.
Symptoms include a pronounced, fast "knock" (usually when you go from 93 to 87 octane) and using a fuel with a higher octane rating than the vehicle requires (example: 93 versus 87) sends unburned fuel into the emissions system and catalytic converter. This puts stress on the emissions system. For some vehicles, a rotten egg smell or a pop when the fuel burns off in the catalytic converter coming from the tailpipe signals use of higher than needed octane gas.

Testimonial: "Thanks alot I shall swop fuels and give her a new set of plugs, plus a timming check. Cheers SDL"

I don't know the solution and I don't want $$ but have you checked all your mode switches? It sounds like you have selected hill climbing mode or something similar.

Would my computer box for my 1999, Land Rover-Rangerover 4.6 L HSE burn if a couple chafed live-wires under the fuse box in the engine compartment grounds out on the body?

there should be a fuse for the power supply for the ECM. However if you know of the chaffed wires then it is best that you do something about it . If the power wires are before the fuses then there could be an electrical fire and after the fuse then you will keep blowing fuses and stop what ever those wires support.
