The obvious problem is it is not the correct one. Carefully compare the old one with the new one - if not the same, take the old one back to where you purchased the new one and get the correct one.

SOURCE: Have a 2003 Chevy Impala. Check engine light

Bank 1 is the rear O2 sensor, but experience says to change both. The front one is right behind the engine in the middle of the engine compartment. The rear O2 sensor is on the top of the exhaust pipe, just behind the catalytic converter. But the same code that shows it is the O2 sensor (which is P0420), is the same code for the catalytic converter, or a vacuum leak. Make sure if you do change the catalytic converter, ensure that the new one is OBD-2 compliant. And the vacuum leak could possibly come from the manifold gasket. Let me know what the problem was!

SOURCE: Where and how many o2 sensor's on a 2003 chevy impala?

There are two sets of 02 sensors on most cars today. On set is set directly behind the header, one on each side, if it is a V engine. This set is used for the engine's ECU to control timing as well as other variables. The other set is placed on a bung in your Catalytic converter. This 02 sensor is used for emissions purposes only.

2003 Chevrolet Impala ls 3.8l. "Hello, I have an

P0171 and P0174 are lean codes. There is likely a large vacuum leak or the MAF is bad.

Try starting the car and wiggling the connector for the MAF sensor. Also try tapping the MAF sensor. If the idle changes or the car stalls replace the MAF sensor.

The second shop should recognize that these codes don't have anything to do with the ignition module.

Did you have it serviced or rebuilt, If you had it rebuilt I would take it back to the trans shop for warranty repairs.
If they just changed the trans filter I don't think it would cause your problem. You just have bad luck with the slipping trans

2003 CHEVY IMPALA/ REAR SPARK PLUG REMOVAL

It makes it a lot easier if you move the alternator out of the way. some times you can get to them from the bottom of the car. When you get to the plug wires twist them to get them lose from the spark plug. Make sure you grab the end of them. don't twist just the wire.

2003 chevy impala ls starts then stalls

I have replaced the radiator in my 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS. The car started running hot and shut down. Took it to a radiator shop and found a crack in the radiator. I have replaced 2 thermostats in the car already. I noticed water running from under my car today and it seems it was coming back out of the overflow. I am stumped as to what is going on with this car.
