SOURCE: What is the battery life expectancy for the 2006

Battery life is a very complicated issue, there are TONS of factors. High temperature kills batteries, if the fluid goes low, that kills batteries. If you forget and leave lights on, and the battery goes totally dead, (totally dead, zippo, not anything) that kills batteries.

Alternator diodes that fail kills batteries. So 4 to 8 years is typical life IN ABSENCE of the above types of issues. My favorite battery is Interstate. They just work really well. Costco has great battery prices, bumpy for service... Really Dislike Sears die easy.

SOURCE: cant get 06 buick lucerne

You have a transaxle shift lock on your vehicle which as I'm sure you know the brakes nust be applied in order to shift out of park. The switch could be bad or if your battery is below 9 volts this will happen. Most cars have a spot where you can stick a key or a screwdriver in to bypass it. Guess what? you don't on your vehicle but there is a way to bypass it and it will work about 90 percent of the time. Apply the brake and then try to shift normally. If it won't shift (which is your problem in the first place) ease of on the pressure as far as trying to shift but don't let a go. Push the lever foward GENTLY as if you are putting it in park all the way. Keep the brake pedal pushed in at all times while you are doing this. After you gently "put it back in park" then try to change gears. No jerking motions just nice and smoothly do it. This is the only way it will work unless you get down and do electrical kind of bypassing on the switch which would be very hard for me to explain because I don't have the wire color codes and stuff to give you. I do hope this works and good luck.

SOURCE: shifter on floor of my

have another shop look at it, it should not be this expensive unless there is major damage to the shifter assembly. usually just the park lock solenoid is bad thats not very expensive. let us know how it goes. you might be able to pop loose the metal rod from this small black solenoid under the shifter yourself, but then it will defeat the safety features of the shifter. getting off the console to get to it might be more work than you want to do though.

I can't shift my 2008 buick lucerne out of park. Is there an override to get the car moving? What is the common problem for this situation?

http://www.buick.com/content/dam/Buick/Global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Owners/Vehicle_Manuals/01_images/2007-Lucerne-Owner-Manual.pdf Page 125 f you cannot shift out of PARK (P), ease the pressure on the shift lever. Push the shift lever all the way into PARK (P) as you maintain brake application. Then move the shift lever into the gear you want Also from that page: Torque Lock If you are parking on a hill and you do not shift your transaxle into PARK (P) properly, the weight of the vehicle may put too much force on the parking pawl in the transaxle. You may find it difficult to pull the shift lever out of PARK (P). This is called torque lock. To prevent torque lock, set the parking brake and then shift into PARK (P) properly before you leave the driver's seat. To find out how, see Shifting Into Park (P) on page 123 . If torque lock does occur, you may need to have another vehicle push yours a little uphill to take some of the pressure from the parking pawl in the transaxle, so you can pull the shift lever out of PARK (P) So no overrides, at least not in owners manual

Tachometer is not showing RPM in 2006 buick lucerne 4.7L and vehicle is shifting hard. All other gauges are working normally. Knock sensor code and crankshaft position code are showing.

Do the diagnostics for the codes . Fix the wiring , replace the sensor , or PCM , what ever the problem an everything will be good .

Car stuck in park,

Obviously the brake pedal needs to be pressed. That being said you should hear a solenoid pulling in when the brake pedal is pressed, that unlocks the shifter to allow shifting from park.
